Did an ls swap in my 69 and want a better radiator, what are u guys using?

Hey guys this is really simple. Did an ls swap in my 69 and want a better radiator, what are u guys using? What options are the most cost effective, what works and what looks nice. This is for fans and radiator. I want to upgrade and not break the bank when I do. Right now I am running the stock fans and radiator from a gen 4 ls powered Camaro. I kinda wanna go aftermarket so it will fit good, work good, and look nice. Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Excellent quality, not inexpensive but you certainly get what you pay for. They will build to your spec. Made in Michigan and owner (Mark) is a car guy (Pontiac GTO). This is what I have and am very pleased. They also offer color anodizing of the radiator if that is something you desire. Talk to Fred for he will take good care of you.

Check with Matt's classic bow ties. He had a great price on a Griffin radiator, cross flow, spal fans. I am debating between that or an entropy unit. Good luck.

Radiator choices...

:superhack:

I also originally planned on using the radiator out of the 2002 camaro, but the more I looked at it I did not want to have it looking like it doesn't belong there with all the extra brackets and hangers to make it work. I went the griffin unit with twin fans from Matt's.
I am currently waiting on delivery.

:ups:

Griffin here, with twin Spal's. This is the fourth griffin I've bought and the welding on it is super nice. I had a moderator off this site in my shop, and he couldn't believe it was a Griffin. They have come a long way. If you'll compare features of all the top priced units, you'll really appreciate the pricing of a Griffin, which isn't cheap, but affordable.

PRC here, works fine, but if I did it over, I would go C&R without hesitation...

I am like Jeremy, the Entropy is super nice set up for the price.I am not saying anything bad towards the others because I have used 3 of these and the service has been so good it's hard to try any other.

I bought a double pass aluminum radiator with both inlet and outlet on the right side from Speedway Motors for a portion of the price of some name brand units. You can find them here... Aluminum double pass radiator, $180 and they have varying sizes. The quality is super nice.

Been in the car for over two years of daily driving, including two 2500 mile road trips towing another car. Never had an issue, never have had to top it off yet. My small block 400 Chevy (the motor that everyone says supposedly likes to overheat) with only a 4 blade old school factory fan runs around 185 all day even in southern Utah's 110* + summer heat and towing up hill through the mountains got up to 195-198 a couple times. For the price you can't beat that value.

That set up is like $750, is that inexpensive? That sounds kinda steep.

n77nxc 10-03-2014 06:12 AM

I found a nice radiator setup on Ebay for $500 shipped. Other members have used this radiator and its nice for the price. It comes with dual fans and integrated transmission cooler (if running an auto). Shoot me a PM if you want details.

This is right about the same price for the griffin unit with twin spal fans.

I ended up going with the radiator suggested by n77nxc, it was a good deal and I got it for under 500 bucks. From what he says they have good quality and work well.

NP, I'm really just interested to see how the fans are mounted if the quality was good.
