Jeremy, what kind of ground clearance do these provide? I've seen hookers give a lot of clearance on the 69 camaro and was wondering how these compared to them.

I used to have hooker supercomps for small block chevy, and upon switching to an LS I picked up the Stainless Works for Wayne Due, as pictured above.

Ground clearance is better than the hooker supercomp, but I did need to clearance the trans crossmember.

Ground clearance is the best I've seen with any other brand. I can email pics if you pm me your email address

Thanks for the reply. Was this with a stock subframe and a stock crossmember?

Got the photos Jeremy, thanks. What size are these?

Carbo 10-22-2014 08:17 PM

Disregard my last. I looked them up on the website and saw they are 1 3/4. I'm putting in an LSX454 and was looking to get 1 7/8 size. However, I'll make some phone calls tomorrow. I'll let you know.

I sold a set of the CVLS1 Chevelle LS1 1968-72 Headers: 1-7/8"
to a guy and he used them on a 69 Camaro with a LS with no problems

Aftermarket - Wayne Due subframe, and whatever aftermarket crossmember came with my trans - can't remember the brand.

Getting the crossmember to clear was super easy though.

Thanks for the replies guys. Jeremy, I would at least need 1 7/8 but not sure if that will work with a stock steering box as I was told that it's extremely tight. The other issue is I haven't decided if I'm keeping the stock sub or going aftermarket. Guess I have to decide that first before buying an exhaust system. Sorry, it looks like I jumped the gun a little.....

How do the turbo upward headers fit in a stock subframe with the ls engine. I'm thinking about ordering a set for my turbo kit and I'm curious before I build a set

Header Ground clearance

Jeremy,
I've been searching for some headers but ground clearance is a premium for me....I'm using a DSE subframe on a 67 camaro and need 1 7/8" primaries....any good pics showing ground clearance?

Stainless Works don't have a 1 7/8" header that fits a DSE subframe

jeremy30thz 11-11-2014 03:44 PM

Stainless Works will have a price increase January 1st so once these headers are gone I want be able to sell them this cheap anymore so get them while I have them!

brandonc707 12-20-2014 09:40 AM

does the CALS1SB work with the true turn? how about mechanical clutch linkage? (factory subframe)
I would also be interested in seeing a pic of the ground clearance if anyone has one?

I just started to collecting the parts I will need for an LQ4 with LS3 heads + 4L80E tranny.
It will go into a 72 Nova with stock subframe and a Lee steering box.
I am looking for a set of 1 3/4" headers. Do you have something for me?
