Here are a few pics before the car was moved to metalworks classics to complete the car,It took a while to get the hack working on it to release the car but at least it's finally out and can get some quality work done.i am expecting the motor from BUTLER PERFORMANCE in a couple weeks and should get some dyno pulls on video so that should be cool,,,,,I don't mean to complain on here but sometimes I need to vent and ask for opinions on time to do some of the fab work because I know when I'm being scammed like the 36 hours he charged to do the work you see on the roll cage,,he said it had nascar side bars and an X brace in the back and it's not there WTF,,,PLUS NOT 1 tube is welded,,I'm sure some of you guys are capable of doing a complete cage install in 36 hours or am I wrong,,,this is where opinions would be appriciated

streetbird 11-23-2014 08:08 AM

clean car, will follow this one

ONEBAD78TA 11-23-2014 09:35 AM

Thanks,,,the nice stuff is comming soon

omiotek 11-23-2014 09:40 AM

nascar door bars? i think not..... His cage does not look all that bad though unless the pictures make it look better then it really is. Does suck to hear he charged you what he did.

Look forward to seeing your build. Glad to see you getting it in the right hands.

ONEBAD78TA 11-23-2014 09:54 AM

Thanks again ,,yea All I had seen was his bill with him saying he did nascar sidebars and an X brace in the rear and as you can see it's not there,,,So I about went through the roof when metalworks posted pics of my car on there sight and I saw that not only did he not do the side bars or X brace but he only tacked the cage and didn't do one weld,,,I paid over 3 thousand dollars for this so I'm pretty upset,,,BUT at least it's in good hands now like you said,,and it should be pretty smooth from now on.

WSSix 11-23-2014 06:22 PM

Whose rear frame rails are those? Maybe it's the angles of the picture but they don't look like they kick up high enough to bring the car down much any more. They actually look like they are lower than the factory frame rails.

ONEBAD78TA 11-23-2014 06:45 PM

Its an Art Morrison Rear clip, yes I have been very worried about that,,,its not at the ride height I told the guy I wanted it at and like you said it doesnt look like it can go lower,,and thats not something I am ok with ,,I told him I wanted about 1" clearance between the lip off the fender and the tire,,not sure what to do at this point. The guy who measured it Ron Pircey at Ron Pircey Enterprises has done all kinds of very messed up things and thats why I was forced to stop him working on the car and had a different comany come and take it,,hopefully the clip doesnt need to be replaced.I was hoping maybe the frame could be notched and move the coilover mount up as much as it can go but I might be worried about the integrity of the frame.

WSSix 11-25-2014 07:07 PM

I would definitely take a step back and get everything measured. It's going to suck to have to redo anything but it will suck worse to redo it later yet.

ONEBAD78TA 11-27-2014 01:46 PM

yea the car is in a good shop now and they are going to go over it and make sure he put it in ok and if it will be able to be lowered to the right stance,,,I am just amazed at the crap Ive had to go through,,, my paint was perfect, and if you look close it even looks like they stole the little firebird emblem out of my horn button.....SOME PEOPLE,,,,And to think I paid this clown 17k

ONEBAD78TA 12-06-2014 11:26 AM

What are you doing for oil starvation?... special pan?...
I never could get one to work even with trap doors, etc or
so called road race pan.. if you are dry sump then ok
if not I would suggest accusump... even on my MR-1
block with Roland racing heads that drain back better
I could still see pressure drop.. fried many a bearing
on cheaper engines and did not care.. now with a real
motor I worry and still live on the pressure gauge

ONEBAD78TA 02-20-2015 09:08 AM

Are you in oregon ??? what were you doing at metalworks?? are they building you a car ??

ONEBAD78TA 02-20-2015 09:13 AM

if you are thinking about having them do some work for you,,,I give them an A+,,,awsome bunch of guys,,,

jeds 02-20-2015 09:41 AM

Yup! I'm in Oregon.

I have a 69' Nova they acid striped and are currently installing front to back DSE suspension with some modifications. Who knows what else will end up happening.... :G-Dub:

I agree. The crew is great. The experience so far has been top notch.

ONEBAD78TA 02-20-2015 11:19 AM

I agree 100%,,,your car s/b awsome with that stuff ,,what motor are you gonna run

jeds 02-20-2015 03:21 PM

No motor decision yet...all I know is LS something. I'm pot committed since my new trans tunnel, crossmember, etc.. is all being built around my magnum trans and an LS mockup motor.

ONEBAD78TA 02-20-2015 03:45 PM

Did you get a chance to look at the front suspension on my car,,,how did it look? I wish I didn't live so far away from them so I could look at the progress ,,,but it's obvious they are working away on it

jeds 02-20-2015 03:49 PM

Sorry man. Didn't get a look. I just took a glance at the motor as I was walking by on my way out.

Hard for the eyes to look past that beast.

I'm sure I'll be down there again soon-ish. Soon-ish being over the next month. If you want me to snap any pictures for you of anything just let me know!

ONEBAD78TA 02-20-2015 04:08 PM

Yea that would be great,,,I would really appreciate that,,it will probably have a lot more completed then too...

YAMATHUMP 02-20-2015 08:22 PM

ONEBAD78TA 02-22-2015 09:40 AM

My builder wants to rebuild the front section of my cage,,they want the bends to follow the widow pillar and lower the side bars,,It's a bummer but I have to agree,,What do you guys think?

71RS/SS396 03-08-2015 06:51 AM

Take a look at the link in my sig(track car build) at how DSE did my side bars. The lower side bar is kicked out and layed into the wire duct in the rocker and also stitched welded to the rocker. It also looks like you need to either lower your seat, raise the halo, or maybe both, your head is above the bar.

That's not me in the car that's the fabricator,,they sent me pictures after they called to show me how it looked,,HE Is taller than.me ,yea I like your cage and the way the tubes align nicely with the lines of the window pillar and the rocker lines ,,,that's how mine should be and that is what the builder wants to do,,I don't want people comming to look at my car and say wow nice BUT ,,,why is the bend in the pillar bars not bent so it follows the lines of the body..we just think it looks bad.by the way I love your camaro,,NICE

captainofiron 03-08-2015 10:22 AM

that stance looks really great
