Gen 4 brake booster with gen 1 camaro?

Hey guys, I wanna run a gen 4 brake booster on my 69. My buddy told me to buy this dse bracket and thats all I need, is this correct? The info on the bracket says it only works with a special dse booster. Thanks guys let me know what you think.

The forth gen booster firewall mounts are different. The one to go with are the 2002-2008 corvette units. You may have to redrill the pedal or run a 1/4" spacer between the bracket and booster.

Or you can run the tuff stuff booster part number 2229NC

Works perfectly with the DSE reduced angle bracket

You will also need the pedal clevis kit

Ok so after talking to my buddy he suggested that I get an aftermarket booster that will work now and when I use the gen 4 front and rear disk later. The reason I need a new booster is the stock one is so large it is in the way of my coil packs, not to mention I want something that looks more modern. Do you guys know of a booster that doesnt need any brackets or mods, that is inexpensive, not that large, and that looks fairly moderns/ not shiny? Also it needs to work with my current brakes and work when I get gen 4 disk put all the way around. I know this is a tall order and kind of tedious but thats kinda what Im looking for. Do I have any optons or is the c5 booster the way to go?Thanks again guys for your help in advance.

What Vince posted above. You can also get the black version. I have used all items Vince posted in my 67 Firebird. works great. I have C6 brake front/02 F-body rear.

That booster says it's 9 inches. I think that's the same size as what I have. I wanted something like 7 or 8 inches. How big is the c5 one? Maybe mines is 10 or 11.

I bought a C5 booster for my first gen on ebay for 150. Love it and relatively easy to mount. Had to cut the rod and use an early 70s Nova bracket to mount the booster to the firewall. Easy

Vince, I'm attempting this exact tuff stuff setup above on a former manual brake 69 Camaro. It looks like I'm getting interference with the booster hard rubber boot and firewall in the last inch of trying to bolt this up. Any ideas on this issue? Do I just tighten it down, or clearance the firewall hole, or ...? Thanks in advance. Ron

I installed one on with friend's 69 camaro a few years back and on another after. I can't recall if all 4 bolts on the existing bracket match the firewall or if only 3 do. I can check when I get home. The one hole I know for sure that didn't match was the large diameter hole the push rod goes through. I welded the hole shut and redrilled it higher. I then mounted the pushrod onto the lower hole in the brake pedal.

Well it looks like I can't just tighten it down as this will cause a preload on the brakes. Anyone run into this with this popular combination?

Edit: I got some advice to clearance the firewall hole similar to the DSE setup. Will try that soonest.

Vince@Meanstreets 12-12-2016 08:01 PM

Sorry I missed this, some firewalls will need some metal moving. The manual cars have a smaller hole, depending on who was working that day.

brake line size

Des anyone know if it's safe to go directly with 3/16 brake lines off the master using this setup?
