I like the changes... Added a vintage class and took away all the aero. Not too sure about long sleeves and pants for autocross and speed stop but so be it. Love that they mandated 5 point belts for expert group.

I saw the aero rule, but was confused by the four points a,b,c, and d underneath. What does that mean?

You can still build a custom spoiler or add a wing, it just has to abide by the size and dimension rules of each class. The vintage class has the most leeway to counter poor factory aerodynamics. They only touched on dimensions and size for spoilers so I assume all other forms of aero. Splitters, Side skirts, Diffusers etc. Are not allowed which is frustrating. Hopefully someone will weigh in here from USCA. |
Front splitter side skirts so on are allowed. But are not removable for part of the event. Must run splitters in all portions.

The rules seem very fair. I just hope they can keep the priority on the vintage cars since they now have 4 classes. Without making it a vintage only race which has much too small of a draw and with the corvettes having an aero and weight advantage I would think the fastest class will get the most attention. But we shall see, Watching new cars race around the track does not spark the interest that the vintage cars will so this might help to continue to spark more interest in vintage cars and Pro-touring.

Also given that the first event is a couple months away, those that were building a car for the 2014 rule set may need to get humping to make some changes. Also, I would think the factory Porsche GT3s would have the aero advantage this year. :BlahBlah:

My hats is off to the USCA guys & gals. They created great events people flocked to, listened to the participants, made classes for different levels of cars, got the aerodynamics in hand, improved safety & continue to make this series better.

Arg!!! First Im hit by the SCCA and their 108" wheelbase rule and now USCA and their 3200lb rule. At least this isnt such a stretch :mock: to fix. I assume ballast weight is allowed. I should only have to put the rear seat and subwoofer back in and have a full tank of gas. Im at 3150 without them and a 1/2 tank.
I like the new rules and classes. It should keep things fun and guarantees a place for the pro-touring/older cars to be competitive. The D&E rules are interesting: I wonder what style door bars you can have and still get points for "driver and passenger ease of ingress and egress" This should be fun. Participants choice - determined by popular participant vote – includes all entries |

Can you advise the advantage of being in the over 3,200 pound class?
what's the weight of all the heavy hitters In the now vintage class? I would think all the gen II Camaros with full cages would be over 3,200. I could see going against the 2-seaters with a pony car would be a loosing battle in the 2014 sub 3,000 pound class, but it looks like the two seaters are in a separate class for 2015. Edit: just re-read the classes, 2-seater class is 1990 and newer. |
I'm thinking the GTL class is going to be the one to watch in the next couple of years. No kit cars but lil featherweights with tires and hp...shut the front door!
Craig510's lil monster along with V8 imports will be a hoot to watch, the CanAm of OUSCA! I'm liking the rules,:thumbsup: still don't think 1989 is the proper cutoff but it's not my show and I'll continue to support the series. |
Looks like I have about 8 weeks to learn to drive and then make it to Thunder Hill...

My life is finally getting back to normal, well as normal as my life can be. This year should be able to make some events, and I'm hoping to get back on my AMX and have it ready for this year. Thank goodness that my brother from another mother (Jimi Day) didn't make some funky class which had he and I running with pre 90 AMC built with 2 seats, no aero, 14" tires, tinted glass, aluminum engine, plastic grilled, etc., etc., etc. Thanks for keeping it simple Jimi, seriously. My pea brain appreciates the simplicity.

With the heavy hitters in GTV would it make more sense to shed some more weight and run in GTL? That's what I would be looking at if I was close to weight......and had a car that was ready.......and thought I was actually competitive. :lmao: |

I just Louggled the Evo and WRX specs, stock curb weight on both is under 3k....oh well. GTV will still be fun to watch. Chris you still have the baddest vega around! :D
