48 Hour Corvette parts are rolling in!
We're starting to see parts rolling in for our new 48 Hour Corvette build come through the doors. One of the coolest new parts to arrive is the Baer Brakes "Remaster" Master Cylinder. The compact fully machined billet body with screw on caps is just the right twist of sexiness and function that the 48 Hour Corvette needs. Specifically engineered to match Baer Brake systems here in USA. You can't beat that!

I understand that some "special" people are helping with the build.

This should be fun. I enjoyed the 48 hour Camaro build.

|
March 10th, 11th, and 12th... Maybe Lonestar Goodguys or the Optima Challenge in Texas might be its maiden track event? Should be a cool build to watch.
|
Right now we intend to debut the 48 Hour Corvette at the NCM track in Bowling Green the day after the build is complete. Then it will appear at both the Ft. Worth Goodguys show and the Optima event the following weekend. After that it will continue to make our normal circuit of Goodguys and Optima events.
Here is a short list of the components... Lingenfelter LS7 MSD AirForce intake Holley EFI Earls lines and fittings Bowler / Tremec T56 Centerforce clutch Baer brakes American Autowire wiring DynoTech driveshafts Forgeline wheels Falken tires C&R Radiator / fans / oilo cooler module Hooker headers Kicker Stereo Classic Instruments gauges Vintage Air front runner and A/C Custom Image Corvette glass bumpers Vaporworx fuel delivery system ...and some cool RideTech suspension stuff :) You'll see the Fedex truck backed up to the door with a bunch of stuff from Summit Racing as well...heat and sound insulation...seats...gaskets...sealers...fluids... all the stuff that seems to get forgotten about! The bad part...I don't get to drive it. Chris Smith will be the driver. You may have seen his 67 C10 truck on the Optima shows. It was kinda fast. More soon! |
We're also very fortunate in that we'll be there to cover the build as it happens. Thanks to Bret and the crew at Ridetech for what will be another incredible build that will prove it's abilities at several track events around the country.

Any pics of the car as it stands now available?

Hint: It's red now. It will end up yellow. |

It's weird, I don't see the luggage rack in the rendering....:stirthepot:

Looking forward to this! Do you know what side pipe mufflers/inserts you will be using?

The goal there was to have a cool looking exhaust that did not burn your leg if you get against it. I'm open to opinions and suggestions on that subject. [or any, for that matter...] |

I want to go from this: http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...psba419303.jpg To this (but with the single upswept head pipe in your rendering instead of the exposed 4 into 1 showing): http://www.creativecrash.com/system/...jpg?1296029273 |

Bret,
How wide of a tire will be used? Very impressive list of parts. |
We have determined a "safe" fitment of 18x9.5 with a 275/35-18 tire with stock fenders. We may try to squeeze a 18x10.5 wheel with a 315 under there and see how much tire rub [if any] we can live with. Ultimately we will liklely flare the fenders and install an 18x11.5 with a 315 tire...but that won't happen on the show...probably a few weeks/months down the road.
|
Sounds good. I'll be watching the live streaming.

Just to clarify...anyone is welcome to attend the Corvete build this week. Bring your hotrod!
There will be a significant number of manufacturers here to oversee the installation of their parts...Rick Love from Vintage Air, Mike Copeland from Lingenfelters, Will Baty from Centerforce. Gabi Baer and Rick Elam from Baer Brakes, Michael Manning from American Autowire, John McLoud from Classic Instruments, Mark Bowler, Dave Schardt from Forgeline, Robin Lawrence from Holley EFI, Tim Anderson from Racepak, Paul Hammond from C&R Racing, Josh Powers from Custom Image Corvette, and likely a few more. Chad Reynolds is hosting the show on the live web feed. Tim Strange is coming up from NAshville...Bill Howell and Brian Finch have threatened to make an appearance. IT should be a good party! The Corvette build will be kind of like an old fashioned barn raising...a bunch of friends getting together to eat, drink, and build a car. The TV camera thing is a happy coincidence. We've made a lot of preparations, but there is no script and everything is live. If something goes wrong...even VERY wrong...you'll see it as it happens. Hopefully our collective experience will allow us to achieve the same success as the first 48 Hour build in 2011. A late development for the project...Snap On Tools and Monster Energy Drink have gotten on board. They have lots of friends that we don't even know yet...looking forward to that! If you want to watch live...and participate in the live chatroom, here is the link: http://www.ridetech.com/48hourcorvette/ See you all on Tuesday morning! |
Good luck with the endevour this week. It'll be fun to watch...
|
This sounds like fun. Wish I was closer. I 'd go just for the hot dogs, LOL
|
