Making brake lines need some help
Have a hard time getting the bubble formed for a double flare. For the first step the bubble is just not forming so basically I have single flares for brake lines if I do not fix the problem. Not sure what going on unless I am not getting enough tube above the die holder and beveled before pressing it with a die.
Thanks |
vstol,
What type of tubing are you using? |

Maybe these will help

Set up is the same result not so much. I will try again later today. The first photo looks like two lines and has me miffed

Are you not removing the adapter and finishing the flare with the swivel? http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-d...dx7RfTK-XL.jpg |
I think the step I missed was the chamfer of the tube before going into the die, also I was looking at the first picture via my phone which gave me a different look, no issues with the first pic. I am heading out to try again, thanks

thanks but I just do not get the thickness around the edges like yours, its not a bubble before I press it one more time with the swivel
|
Sounds like your tube is being pushed back through the holder, Tighten the screws and or clamp it in a vice.

thanks

I borrowed the flaring kit and it looks like it has some miles on it. This morning I did a quick flare using the vise and it was pretty darn good. Thanks for your advise I plan to buy another one today.

New flaring kit and the double flares look good, thanks for your help

After you cut the tube file it perfectly square and debur before you use the flaring tool. Also put a little lube on the tube or die end such as WD40

complete thanks

I found the tools with the wing nuts just don't do a good job at holding the tubing.
Mine you use a wrench to tighten. I have not had issues with this one slipping. Tim |
After screwing with the cheap flair tools on stainless lines I am ordering this.

^^^^^ This.... Best flaring tool ever. The 37* kit for AN lines works great too!

flaring tool
I borrowed this kit from a buddy when I did my brake and fuel lines. This was so easy with this kit and the copper nickel lines. I was also able to do the GM quick disconnects for the fuel filter fitting. It was the 71475 kit.
