Is It Me Or Does "misfit Garage" Insult Your Intelligence??
I just clipped across it again and fell out in the floor with the 67 Camaro with door gaps like 1" wide and it brings 38K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please tell me I'm seeing things.................ggeeeeesssssss..........jim

Top goes down price goes up. 😃
|
Yes..
|
Took the least likeable clowns/f'ups from one show and made a second show... 'merica.
|
Agreed. The show is an embarrassment.
|
It's TV so yeah it's all BS. While there are probably elements of true realism in these shows, it's all burried in the typical minutia that makes T-shirt salesmen like Richard Rawlings a "celebrity". If your hankerchief doesn't drag on the ground behind you....then you just won't understand bro.
|
I actually still have a voicemail from the producer of this show....she wanted to attend my swapmeet in Conroe last year with a camera crew...So thats why I tend to just look at where this show ends up....Her quote was "these guys are different than R.R......We want to film them actually in swapmeet buying PARTS to restore these cars"......Well I don't recall ever seeing that yet and she ended up filming at a Mecum auction same weekend.........and u should see what I have to sign off on to let her crew come in!!!......:badidea: :badidea: ...jim

Both shows
Are more staged mini shoots and false drama than actual content...Those who work on things would much rather see them actually build stuff, than listen to techs bicker, or RR spend money that isn't his.

Its funny how the car they finished up with is closer to what they should have started with for what they paid. I spotted some pics of it on FB showing the gaps and rust holes still in the car even after paint. Following the drama on FB between the show and Scott, it all seams real with the exception of the buyer at the end. He looked like he might be a real car guy but seriously, who pays 38k for that. Looked like it still had drum brakes on all 4 corners and stock suspension. Didnt even look like they blasted and repainted the parts. Just bolted it back on with the same old bolts. I wouldnt give that for MY car and I have close to that much in parts alone in it.
|
most of those tv cars are like that. No one with a flip business with 2-3 week builds details to lateral-g level and makes money doing it. They are doing it to make money fast in fast out.
|
i refuse to watch it. just too stupid and not believable even though i know all the similar shows are fake.gas monkey gives me all the dumb i need!

I love the scenes where they are bolting on brand new shiney parts onto a frame covered in rust and an inch of grease and oil.... nice paint right next to the rusted out cowl etc etc etc...
As for Gas Monkey..... ever notice that 75% of the cars they built and "sold" are in the background...even in the next season....its all scripted TV BS..... The challenger they just did with basically an engine and trans swap and bolt on wheels/tires/brakes...they sold it for $125k...are you stupid? |

The Monkeys achieved a new level of ridiculousness for me personally, with that episode. The Challenger, for me, was my favorite car that they have built, but the story about Dodge letting Richard drive the "prototype" car that's going to be crushed anyway, so let's borrow the drivetrain out of it...they won't even notice. The whole storyline was pathetic. Are there people out there that actually fall for this junk? And what about the bearded wonder himself, master mechanic Arron being stumped by the fact that the column on "these old cars" kills power during start? He made out like he was stumped, and didn't know how to correct this. I chuckled about that for a while. |
$150k for basically an engine swap and some bolt on parts....oh wait, they did a small mini-tub too....

I'll say it, I enjoy watching the show. Its entertainment. |
I am guilty of watching just about any car show on TV. Fast n loud is tolerable and is good tv with a few good characters. They build those cars for the show, but you would think they would at least not have them in the background two seasons later. Some fan out there would probably buy those piles. He has built so many green cars and less popular model. If you were really building them to sale, you would pick popular colors and models. It is still entertaining to me though.
That being said, I can't stomach Misfit Garage. Tom and Jordan were good as comic relief on Fast n Loud, but they don't have anybody on there to carry the show. The whole idea of showing the entire world all of the short cuts and bad decisions and then trying to flip these cars is lost on me. If you bought something made by any of these shops and then saw the episode, you would feel pretty shorted. |
How about not strapping down that C-10 cab to the trailer after it was painted! There it goes rolling down the freeway.

Did you notice the Mopar aaron ran into was already damaged when it came off the truck too. To the OP's original question? Insult my intelligence, no, actually makes me very confident I'm doing it the right way. But then I'm not flipping cars to making a living. I do that part for fun. |
