68 camaro "Golem" widebody
6 Attachment(s)
I started this in 06 and through many set backs im starting to see a light at the end of my tunnel.
Usual rust repair and panel replacement of this plain v8 Camaro All new floors, 80% quarters , fenders, package tray, header, mini tub, ect, ect. Speed Tech Sub G-Bar rear w/fab9 & 33 spline wavetrac 2 LSX427 w/twin 88s Jakes 4l80 with coen bigstuff 3 Dakota VHX Ricks tanks w/ fuel lab pump i went back and forth between 405 25 24 and the 355 30 19, ended up with the 355's but i still feel like i should have done the 405's those are the parts i already have. all the replacement panels have been done for years as i bounced around from shop to shop finding shops that promised the world but only ended up wasting my time and resources. all of the fab work has been done in the last year. im waiting in line for my turn to have my rear gbar brace modified to allow for the proper ride hight and cage points to be mocked up for final fender positioning before the final welding begins on the cage. you can always catch current pics (lots more on the FB page)on https://www.facebook.com/GolemCamaro/ remember to click like to follow and get notifications when pics are added |

here are the renderings. the last red rendering is if i was using the 405's
im still on the fence about the door handles , im leaning toward keeping them the roof strip isn't just a strip its a bodyline i "borrowed" from the roof line of a 5th gen ( i need to take some pics , its already done) i am taking small details from other generations so i need to look at the 6th gen as well i was completely inspired by Milt Burleson's Dyno West Camaro on my built |
anyone have any hands on with the JRI shocks , specifically the hydraulic ride system?
|
What coil springs do you have in those rear shocks? I have the same set up. I had to put 10" springs in my car and it still sits way too high.

Wicked renderings
I'm all about those flares and the new Z28/ZO6 style rear wing
|
Love the renderings. This is going to be sick!
|
Very cool renderings. I wanna see the 405's on there. :D
|
Any of those paint schemes will work. Looking good.
|
Vote on the gray and like those side exit pipes.

this is what it looked like with the 1/4s cut and a mock up fender with the 405's.
im still on the undecided about colors but I figure I got plenty of time. I sooo wish someone who is using the jri hydraulic system would read this thread and chime in a bit. |

Big thanks to ChassisWorks for the updated cross bar and the supports! (pics to come soon) just needing to get the fab9 to the powder coater so I can mount everything back up and take some measurements for the JRI stuff. Speed-Tech has amazing customer service , just throwing that out there as well . they have walked me though the entire ordering process so far and made spending large amounts of money to easy. |
Was a good day today the rearend disassembled and dropped the fab9 off to the powder coated and will have it back on friday. Last on my list for now is the JRI hydraulics, glass ,power window kit and wiring. Oh and find a flat 2in cowl hood......

small update
|
Nice! Keep it up.
|
looks great
|
I knew the background looked familiar, that's Tom's place! He painted my 68 camaro. I actually saw your car when it first came in. Looks great!
|
Tom is a good dude, I think those fenders have been redone 3 times to get them perfectly the way I wanted them lot of Blood Sweat and Tears in that car

We could not get the stance I wanted which matched the rendering AND have a functioning suspension. This means I had to make a decision to channel the body and cut out the Speed Tech pro-touring subframe which had never seen the road. I figured well if I'm going to do that I might as well just get the Speed Tech ExtReme subframe, so I did.
Next is line is the firewall and trans tunnel mods, then off to have the cage put in. |

first channeled Speed Tech ExtReme gen 1 Camaro?
|
Sucks that the subframe had to be removed but at least you realized that now and made the changes while you could. Good luck!

body channeled over the subframe and frame connectors. tunnel had to be moved as well .
ride height will be controlled by JRI hydraulics |
Man I'm glad to see you posting an update, I love this build.
