2015 Shelby GT350R running hard at Gratton Raceway
Forward to 1:45 mark...
|
Sweet ride and glad to see Ford stepping up their game. I wonder how it compares against the Z28?

No head-to-head testing published yet that I know of, but here are reports of lap times at 'The Ring' for both cars. http://www.evo.co.uk/ford/mustang/15...s-ring-laptime vs. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2015/01/...rburgring-lap/ |
Gt 350
Saw a new Rousch last night heading to cruise
night in the Pantera... lines are cool on that car Bob |
Why do Americans care about a track that's 10,000 miles from here? It's not like any of us can access that track with our cars. We should be testing those cars at Laguna or Watkins Glen or any of the other bad ass tracks we have on our terra. That would mean something to me. Sorry for the rant.
I'd still buy the Z. Gt350 looks like a shoe. |
I'm sure road and track will get Randy Probst to drive both at Laguna like they normally do. That is their go to test track.
To answer the other question. The car is a couple hundred lbs lighter than the Z28 and has the same size wheel and tire. I'd put my money on the gt350 over the gen5 Z28. What will prove to be interesting is when/if the gen6 gets a z28 right off the bat and what that'll weigh as well as power level... |
It is one bad mutha.....Can't wait for my R.:excited:
From another site quoting Kerry Baldori, Chief Functional Engineering, Global Performance Vehicles at Ford: "We brought our GT350R and our GT350 Track Pack here at Grattan to do fair, back to back same day and same driver comparisons. The GT350R with the Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires is equal to the 100th of a second as fast as the Porsche 911 GT3 and it is over a second quicker than the Z/28. The base GT350 with Track Pack, which uses the Pilot Super Sport tire, is equal again, to within a 100th of a second to the Porsche Carerra and the Corvette C7 with the Z51 package." http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...psp8f2r67c.jpg Best video yet IMO |
Are you getting an "r" or hoping to? I'd be happy with just the gt350 with the diff and trans cooler. I'd put different shocks on the car anyway so I don't need the mag ride.

Nice. I want a white with blue stripe with red outline.

There were two of the new GT350s running at Sonoma Raceway yesterday--they looked pretty dang capable on the track. In the pits, however, there was a 1964 Fairlane full of Cortex goodies . . .

I ran these down like they were standing still at Sonoma Raceway last week..... I have just a bit of a weight advantage... and more HP.... and of course - it is like many of these "track cars" from the factory -- it all depends on who is driving them. The "capabilities" are in the drivers hands.
Having said that -- I like them over the Camaro's.... The Camaro already has a "years old" look to it... where this is fresh and hard edged to me - like the new C7 (which I like). The guys with the blown Vette's are all complaining about super charger heat soak at the track... and that's after running them very very little! |
Greg makes a very valid point. To the average person, however, it's pretty cool to see what looks like a mistake or a Photoshop exercise: :trophy-1302:

Sway bar has plenty of room to drill a hole or two to make it adjustable from the factory.http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/s..._092434875.jpg |
That's a cool display! This is definitely the best looking thing Ford's produced in some time--it's looking more GT than ever.
What the heck is an electric axle oil pump? Is that really a thing? Is it some kind of post-engineering Band-Aid? |

So you want white with red on the stripes
And it has a Ford engine:) Bob |
While 1 hp per kg is impressive, I think I'll stick with the Ford products...

The GT350 and the GT350R cars are awesome looking. It took some time for the new body style to grow on me, but it has. Really digging it. The new Roush Stage 3's are growing on me as well.
The GT350R is a beast of a car. |
