Season 2 of the OUSCI started last nite
For those of you with MAVtv....
theres quite a few of us on there....I, for example, got almost a second of national tv coverage, twice. If you blink, i wasn't there lol. It was a super fun event to be apart of, went by waaaay too fast. Comments on season 2: The Good: -The overall formats nice. -well ran and well organized. -very affordable and mucho track time for your buck. -great cars, eye candy for us, great diversity on makes and models, IMO -very very competitive. The Bad (IMO): -Most people still cant get MAVtv, owned and ran by Lucas Oil which picked up much of the Speed Channel programming when Fox sh!tcanned it. -No footage of the "boring" road rally, which to me is one of the funnest parts. -Not enough tv time on the younger crowd (not us older dudes with boring persona and cars (read me lol)), alot of tv time on the people we saw last year, which they've earned imo, but i'd like to see it mixed up a little bit more... -hard time keeping up with the silence of the series programming, didn't know this new episode was airing until i saw a Detroit Speed sneek peek commercial on instagram, poor marketing for whatever reason. Well those are my two cents... Mike |
Mike did you happen to see a big blue charger? What about a fat kid on a bike?
I don't have the Mavtv so I'll have to wait till it comes out on vhs... Fun weekend for sure! :happy23: |
I loved the event and would happily do it again. The truck however, may need a bit more work before I come out and play with the big boys again :D
EDIT: I got a lot of airtime for a kid who has no idea what he's doing... |

Dan, i think there were a few shots of your car, but they did a "camera focus" on a grayish charger on the road course...(sorry, is it Don?or Dan) Did / does your car have a white stripe around the tail? |
I have been looking forward to the new series. Unfortunately for us, we moved to OH from TX last month and Uverse does not offer MAVtv. Totally bummed.
I agree Mike, the marketing is close to non-existent unless you attended an event this year or last and just happen to be "in the know". The show is super cool to re-live the events and especially when you see your car, if even for a nano-second. I wish those of us that are unable to get the show through our tv provider could get it through YouTube, Hulu or one of the other alternative programming options. |
Yep blue with a white stripe. It's not mine though, I just try and help keep it together. The owner and I have been pal'n around since 7th grade, one of the other guys I've known since 2nd grade....nice lil wolf pack.
I remember when we did Pahrump in 2011 some magazine coverage of the event, has anyone seen anything since? The events are a kick in the pants and never disappoint, even Portland which was...well Portland, was still well ran and a good time. I guess the show needs to work to keep the sponsors sponsoring and the events happening. It's just too bad it's on Mav. Dan |
I have been looking forward to seeing the new season and hoping my TA makes it into a few scenes if only in the background. I thought the show was good and put together well and look forward to seeing more episodes!

Stuck around an extra hour Friday night to watch it 'live', it's amazing how far the production and presentation have come since the beginning. Chad does a great job presenting and the variety of shots, cars, and people was great overall.
Anyone know how the schedule is going to play out with the new episodes? It's just a generic description on my guide and the website, so I don't know when to expect the new ones.. |
Call me a bit slow on the uptake but I just realized Dish dropped MAV TV! I scrolled through channels after not finding OUSCI in the DVR.... So irritated now I could cancel pay TV altogether. What a joke!
I could call and gripe but somebody in Manilla or wherever isn't really going to brighten my day.:guns: |

I just caught it tonight after reading this thread. We only watch the DVR 98% of the time and I have a huge backlog of "car shows" so I was oblivious that MAV was absent. |

Only reason i started with directv in 2000 is they were the only ones with speedvision lol, very ironic that there pretty much the only ones with Mavtv...wish it was in Hd
the programming and production are good. they just need to mix it up a bit,,,i still dont miss an episode. |
The TX show featured a lot of Mike Dusold and other self supported racers that I thought was a nice touch. They really captured the feel of the show and I don't know how Chad was in so many places at once.
Great job the the show producers for putting together a great series and to optima for organizing a super fun event. |
I don't know this for sure but as I understand it -- the "show" is produced independently -- and then must be packaged and sold to "someone" that is willing to pay for it and air it. It's not really a MAV TV production??? It's just that MAV TV was the one willing to air it....
This arrangement (as many shows like this are done) might explain what we consider to be a very limited "marketing campaign". Advertising (marketing) costs a bunch of dough... and someone like ESPN etc probably just doesn't see a huge market for this type of show. OUR hope is that it gains some traction and one of the bigger "networks" picks it up. |
With all the Big Red Camaro hoopla ( :) ) I am hoping NBCSN picks it up. Maybe we can make some noise over there.

From the USCA Facebook page, these are some great pictures of my car. What a fun time I'm still having with this event 6 months later!

In my younger days I was a motorcycle guy, big Superbike Fan, raced myself at the regional level. Went to lots of races, Etc.
Back then all the AMA series was on Speed Vision, and some of it was even LIVE. Fast forward 15 years. No AMA races are on TV, not even the Daytona 200! The series is a shell of what it was. Meanwhile, a new race series with STREET CARS of all things is successfully running with big time industry sponsors, growing, and it’s on TV with season #2. This will likely bring in more sponsors and more events. USCA is doing something right – Impressive! |
