1991 GMC Syclone from Alberta Canada
Hello I have been drooling over all the cars on this site for quite some time and now I can share what I'm building.
Little story about myself. Huge car guy. Into anything and everything about cars/trucks. I'm married with one 3 month old little girl. I work as a GM technician and have for 14 years. I live in a small town Drayton Valley Alberta. I'm currently building a 1991 GMC Syclone. Bought the truck in 2012 with a modified engine other than that mostly stock with 40000 miles. Ran 13.1 at 107mph with a 2.2 60ft. The paint was tired after 21 years, so I had it painted 3 months after I purchased the truck and was just going to leave it after that. WRONG. I went head first into the project. Spent two years working on it modifying the suspension, brakes, interior, powder coating, and little more engine performance. When that was done I ran the truck for 2 months and was dealing with over boost issues and then under boost issues and the engine did not feel as strong as it did, removed the engine and brought it to a engine shop and found that all the exhaust valves were bent the the engine bore was out of round the crankshaft bearings were worn out as was the rod bearings, this started the Syclone 2.0 program in which the truck came apart again just leaving the cab on the frame. The engine has be completely redone, new turbo, dp, a2a intercooling, bigger brakes, better suspension, 4l80 transmission, 8.5 10 bolt rear diff and a whole lot more powder coating, paint and polishing. This when I first bought it http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...fcamera037.jpg After the first rounds of modifications http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...pskvmomodu.jpg Current status http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9x3mjyjq.jpg I will post more in a build thread. |

I've always loved the syclones!!! My father bought one new and he sold it after he had to take it back to the dealer because he twisted the frame from launching it too hard. LOL
Keep the Pics coming!!! |
I bought on a at GM sale in 95. After they put two motors in it. They bought me back out of it. Yours is a sweet ride.

Very cool! I almost bought a 1993 Typhoon as my first car back in 1997. Really wished I would have bought that car....I was hell bent on getting a stick though and ended up with a Cavalier Z24...That was a fun little car though. Great starter car.
Anyways, there is a black 1991 Syclone for sale local to me...for 19,xxx; I'm very tempted to buy it. |
looks good! very nice truck
