Dutchboys 1971 Camaro Build
Hey guys! Ive been wanting to start a build thread a long time ago about the car. Ive just been so busy with customer cars and other things in life this year like getting married! its been a busy summer.
A lot of on and off work was done on the car over the last two years. I would have it down at the shop working on it here and there, then when we needed the room I would take it home for awhile and it would sit in my garage. Shorty after my wife and I got back from our honeymoon just a few months ago. Tom from Holley and I talked more about having the car be in the booth at SEMA. With an opportunity of having the car at SEMA in the Holley booth was offered It gave me a huge motivation to get the car done. The only problem was that I had not worked on it in months. It was time to get to work! I cannot thank all of the guys at the shop enough. I couldn't have gotten it done without all of the long hours they put in. Just 4-5 weeks before SEMA the car was on the rotisserie mostly in bare metal and needed a ton of fab projects and body work to be finished. Without any quality compromised we finished it JUST in time to load it in the trailer and drive straight through to make it for load in day. Over the next few months as its cold here in Michigan now we are going to finish up a few details and then look forward to the 2016 season. Cannot wait to hit the track and use this car for what I built it for! Here are some pictures of what the car look like when we started. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...psydmted9o.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...psexyxfuya.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...pskygkp3cv.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...pstbtmfwxa.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps9yvqwsxw.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...psayedjzrd.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...psxwjcskm0.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...psutbza0cs.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...pse9npdwec.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...psfkkzyi7b.jpg |

Awesome! Thanks for posting the build pics! One question, I noticed in Marty's SEMA pics yesterday that you used a '69 dash but modded the upper portion of the DSE insert. Would a Nova dash pad work better in this situation? Just a thought and you know how much I love the build!

Great pics.
Tell us about those flares! |

Awesome job Paul and Joe. You guys nailed it and major congrats.
Sweet!! Thanks for the awesome pics. :trophy-1302: :trophy-1302:

Congrats on the car and marriage Paul! I was hitched this past summer to and I feel like my life was a blur! I can't imagine throwing a build of this quality in on top!
Where did you go on your honeymoon? |
What wheels were on the Camaro before the new Forgeline's showed up?
Awesome build!
Do you have a part number on the headers? Wonder if they will work on first gen Camaros with DSE? Car is bad a$$!
Love this car.
Timing of first seeing it sucked though, I was just picking my 72 up from Sled Alley and Matt showed me the pics on his phone... suddenly my car was a turd in comparison lol. The flares are perfect, I assume they're completely custom out of sheet metal? I've been wanting to do that since I saw the RS car and the Spectre car but this one really makes me need them haha. Just the right amount but still subtle. |
Beautiful car ! Done by some pretty cool guys! One of the best at SEMA..
Awesome build, thanks for sharing.
What are the finishes on the wheels?

Thanks everyone for all of the positive comments. We are really excited about this build and looking forward to having some fun and taking the summer and getting the car dialed in. Going to hit the dyno sometime this week and get some numbers!

Car is sick! What color paint & brand is that, love that combo with the wheels you chose!
Wow it was a rough car to start with. This thing was awesome in person. I saw it at the OUSCI. Looked like you had an issue and didn't get to fully run the car over the weekend. I kept stopping by it every time i passed it in the pits. As soon as it runs as good as it looks it'll be awesome.
Amazing build and good people!! One of my top 10 for SEMA easily!
just wanted to congratuate you one such a awesome build! car looked stunning at Sema ! i was hoping to see it run at Optima looked like you were having some issues hope you got those sorted out and hope to see some road testing in soon! keep up the great work !

Quick bump for an awesome car!
I would love to hear more about those fender flares... I assume they are custom. |
