DSE dash insert with Holley Digital Dash
I'm in the midst of installing an LS twin turbo set up in my '69 Camaro with Holley EFI. I bought a DSE dash insert, originally planning on installing analog gauges, but I'm intrigued by Holley's digital dash set up. Has anyone used it and installed it in the DSE insert? Alternative recommendations?

I think you will have a hard time making it fit. The space between the drop in the center (where the dash sticks out) and the bottom is too short for the holley screen. I'm sure if you're willing it can be modified but it will be a tight fit.
I am looking at putting a racepak IQ3s in my car and it was a TIGHT fit and it's over 1/2" shorter. This is my DSE dash with the IQ3 set in the position it would be installed and as you can see it's very tight fit. http://i.imgur.com/WDknHYq.jpg The racepak dimensions are a good bit smaller than the holley in height. http://i.imgur.com/quctShn.jpg Holley is 4.625" tall and 7.5" wide. Width should be no issue, but height will be the difficulty. William |
Another example of an option and showing the space limitations is Hellfire's dash.
http://st.motortrend.com/uploads/sit...e-interior.jpg That display is a tight fit and it measures 4" tall x 6" wide. |
Thanks guys! It looks like the Holley option is out due to size. Shoot me some pics if you get the racepak installed!

Will do. Waiting on iq3s to come out so I can have a fuel gauge integrated.
Hope to have dash ready in a couple months. William |

https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=51621 looks like they used the holley dash. |
Yep. They definitely did. As said you could make it work. Just have to remove the "drop." You could modify the DSE label like some have and run a Nova dash pad and I'm sure make it fit.
That's what I wanted to do originally but it takes a little more work than I wanted to get involved with to make those modifications. One thing I wish the holley dash allowed for is tuning. As of right now you can't make tuning adjustments with the Holley dash. Just the handheld or a PC. |
I have the small 3.5 screen in my truck and u can see it pretty good. I use it all the time and hardy look at my regular gagues!! Tune from it also!!

I recessed a Holley dash into my DSE 69 dash insert. By far the best dash on the market!
Ill add some more pictures later tonight. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...pshkrmflhf.jpg http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...psnoydsjik.jpg |
Dutchboy that looks amazing! What modifications did you have to make to the DSE 69 insert to make the fit? What dash pad did you use?
|
I searched all over and couldn't find what I am looking for. Does anyone know what the pro/cons are for the Racepak over the Holley dash?
|
Not sure pro's and cons but I'm curious what is under the extension on the 69 dash pad where he obviously removed it. Looks really good though!

Wait you cant run the Holley dash cause no extension harness?
I have all the harnesses for the racepak ready to go. Probably going with the IQ3s as it has easier use of the fuel level. I dont care for the turn signals so I'll likely run a panel from NVU for the signals and check engine/etc. William |
FWIW, Autometer showed at SEMA a new display (called the SD7) supposedly coming in March or April.
Numerous screen options, configurable for any gauge combinations you want, warning lights & alarms, etc. Also has CAN connectivity, etc, etc. Here's a few crappy cell phone pictures I took of the various screen options on their display. Sorry for the blurry shots... http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...6/DSCN5311.jpg http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...6/DSCN5310.jpg http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...6/DSCN5309.jpg At 4-5/8" x 7-7/8", it is almost identical in size to the Holley display. To fit it to the DSE dash insert, the drop down will have to be removed or at least notched out. I like the idea of recessing it like Paul did on his Camaro. Bill |
Hopefully the Autometer Street Dash will be much cheaper than the data-logging Competition Dash which is around $4500.

Does the Holley dash have the ability to show a Speedometer and Odometer?

I was told about $1400 for the SD7. Not exactly cheap, but cooler & more flexible than gauges for about double the $$$. Bill |
Yea $1400 isn't too bad considering the racepak street dash is about $1000, and a nice set of gauges can run 8-900 depending on what all you're trying to display.
I like the new Motec display but it's price is astronomical as well. William |
