Here's a viable option....

Drive one of the working cars out to California - leave it there and fly to Sun Valley Idaho - buy my transporter (bring $180K in cash) - drive it to Texas - pick up three cars and take them to California - turn around and go get the other three - leave all of them and the transporter in California. Fly back to Texas and drive the last one out. Done.

I've done this type of "move" a couple times so I know it can be done.

Since you ask about moving "7 - 8" -- but only list 7 - I'm making the assumption you don't know how many cars you have so I stretched to make 8 work.

Atleast thats a nice problem to have.

Vega$69 12-16-2015 08:59 AM

Call reliable exotic and intercity and have them quote your transport. The rollers and how the quote them will be the difference.

Are the parts going with the rollers or just the cars. Most of the major carriers won't haul the parts

Vince@Meanstreets 12-16-2015 09:25 AM

Transport should cost less since fuel is below $2/gal now so shop around

BMR Sales 12-16-2015 12:38 PM

Group Discount!

Since they are all being picked up & dropped to the same spot, that's a lot less work for the Driver, so it should come with a good Discount

vipercuda 12-16-2015 01:29 PM

Here is a Transportation Broker, his name is Mike 715-687-4600, he can help you especially with the inoperable cars...

takid455 12-22-2015 11:26 AM

I've had goo success with A&M express transport out of Peoria , AZ. Being you will be fill the carrier, the per car rate would be very favorable. The rigs carry 9 cars so they may grab another in the area.

He does the southern route then up the east coast.

Shipped a 71 bird from CA to NJ. No issues.

We use Plycar quite a bit and recommend them.

Good to see you've got it worked out, though.

Oh trust me --- I've done several similar moves. Sometimes you just shake your head -- grin and bear it... LOL

People always want a shop - and a shop full of tools is even better!!! Sure it is.... until you move... Then all that heavy shop equipment needs to be moved. Did you know you can't "stack" a mill or bandsaws etc.... that means it has to be on a pallet... and it takes up single floor space in a truck($). But just think of all the fun we have!!! HA!

I used Curves Ahead Transport to move 2 Harley's, a Range Rover, and our 1973 Trans Am from Texas to Ohio this past July. I was pleased with their service and attention to detail. They would offer a full truck transport discount. I sold my C7 or would have had the whole truck occupied.

Was this from Curves Ahead? Hopefully not. My quote for 6 cars was $5k. Full trailer. I have heard auction season has the transporters in high demand and pricing is in their "high season" rates. In other words...they are sticking it to the customer. :bang:

What?! Leaving the good ol' Bay Area?

At least when you get to Texas you can carry a 9MM everywhere you go now....

Wimpy caliber.... real men carry 1911's in .45. In Idaho - you'd be the odd man out if you DIDN'T carry. LOL

Gun ownership in Idaho is 55% --- Versus California's 21%

By the way -- Our murder rate is next to nothing - and gun homicides in 2010 were a whopping 12.... NOT 12 per 100,000 but 12 TOTAL

Versus California with only 37 X's the population but 100 X's the murder rate. Ya think maybe it's PEOPLE not guns that might be the real issue??

qnitro 01-05-2016 02:33 PM

Im taking all my guns with me too.. :) 7 in all :)

And in the open too, if you have the concealed license.

I've been arguing the same logic for years.

What part of north Dallas? I'll be up in around DFW airport for work for 5 months.

qnitro 01-06-2016 09:58 PM

South Denton.... Bought a HUGE 6000sqft home, with 5 car garage and garages are ALL oversized with super high ceilings

And we'll hope it stays that way!

We'll see how long before you can't stand it and need civilization. Buy a house in Napa with a shop as your main house and use the McMansion as your winter hideaway. Napa will have you close to the race tracks and wine country.:peepwall:
