Wrong side of the country for me but it sounds like a great setup!
 |
Sounds like fun but it bothers me that they have no hotel information posted for any stops. Sounds like the plans are not quite complete. I have never heard of FM3.
|
If I'm not mistaken FM3 is Jim Day and and Cam, the same group/guys that put on the USCA stuff.
|
FM3 is Jimi and Walley who run Optima events, Power Tour and lots of others. By far the best most organized well run events out there. The hotels will be finalized in a couple days.
Did anyone look at the give aways? WOW!!! |

Is there a list of who has signed up yet? I've got to get my winter upgrades completed as it looks like a blast!!
|
Is there any way to register for just 1 or 2 days of auto-x? I see that you can register for single days of the cruise but don't see a way to do that for auto-x.

In addition...every decal on your car adds a tenth to your time. And just to make it even more fun...how about a Lemans start? [might not be a great idea in my case :)] |

Looks like we have about 70 people registered so far for the trip! This is shaping up to be a very cool event. Not only can you join us for the whole week of autocrossing, backroading, and socializing, but you can also sign up for everything but the autocrossing on a per day rate. http://www.fm3roadtrip.com/event-registration.html
This event will be great for the people who may be new to autocrossing or may not want to concentrate on it for that week. Although there will be some really good competition with people like Chris Smith, Kyle Tucker, Rob McGregor and Sam Strano...we have agreed [mostly] to leave the heavy artillery at home and bring cars that are cool and comfortable for long trips. This week will be for fun. I am bringing either my 70 GSX [which hasn't been out for several years] or one of our new StreetGrip cars, a 72 Chevelle. Chris Smith will driving one of our other StreetGrip cars, probably our 70 Camaro. Kyle Tucker was talking about bringing his 65 Nova, with the outside chance of his new C3 Corvette making an appearance for a couple of the days. Not sure about Rob McGreagor, but I suspect we'll see him and Tina in her 66 Mustang. Herb and Carol Lumpp from RideTech are bringing their 66 C10 truck. I know there are several more that I have not mentioned yet. RideTech is giving away a complete StreetGrip suspension every day. I know all the other sponsors are giving away cool stuff as well. Just a chance at that is worth the entry fee! For the people who have never been on the Bourbon Trail Tour that is going on on Thursday, we will be touring several of the country's best bourbon distilleries around Bardstown KY. I've done this a couple times...good stuff! And for the people who have not yet been to our facility at RideTech...were going to give tours of the entire facility and finish the week off with some great grilled grub. As an added attraction at RideTech...Ron Sutton is holding one of his all day suspension workshops on Saturday May 7th. You certainly do not have to participate in the Road Tour to attend the Sutton Seminar, but it is a very worthy investment of time all on its own! Ron will have his workshop registration available shortly. http://www.ronsutton-racetechnology....php?storyid=55 When you get a chance, post a picture of the car that you intend to bring on the trip...lets see them! Lets go have some fun with hotrods! |
I'm really looking forward to this road trip. I signed up early expecting it to sell out quick so I'm surprised that spots are still available. A few more upgrades to get wrapped up along with the normal safety system checks, and the final dyno/street tune will be complete the first week in April.
The only thing that won't join me on the trip is my RE71s. I just can't justify racking up a 1000 miles on them when the entire point of this trip is fun. I'll save them for the more competitive events, such as the MMC at the end of May. I also have my local CAM class to consider.....lol Here is the heap I'm bringing (photo courtesy of Tim King) http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...psollw7wwb.jpg BTW, it's awesome that you are opening up Ridetech for tours on that Friday. Now I have something else to look forward to!! Kerry |

Im starting to think I might be bringing a "racecar". Oh yea I need to hook the AC up and tune for that. [IMG]http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...psifmnltcv.jpg[/IMG] |
Reasons that I want to bring a more "civilian" car:
1. While any of our cars...48 Hour Camaro, 69 Mustang, 48 Hour Corvette...would easily make the trip and be comfortable doing so, I want to demonstrate that you do not need a highly prepped hotrod to have fun, even in a competitive environment. 2. I want to see how well a simple StreetGrip equipped car can perform on the track. These are cars with a simple suspension, low horsepower crate engines, door dings, paint chips, and 15" white letter tires. You know, like most people drive. 3. I want to have fun without the stress of babysitting a high end car or the pressure of expected performance. Having said all that I won't deny the possibility of one of our more prepped cars making an appearance at one of the stops. Thankfully we have the luxury of doing that since several of the stops are so close to us. This trip is starting to shape up like one of the old Power Tour trips from the mid 90's, before everything got a little...out of hand. Fun with cars and friends! |
I so wish I could pull this trip off, sounds like it's going to be a great event and hopefully I can make it in year 2. If it was only a month later this year I would be able to go.:shakehead:
|
I, too, am dreaming about this event. I want to go just to be out there again.. but it across the country from me and my truck isn't assembled. How bad would I get laughed at to bring a C10 in three colors?

Looks like I might be in for this version, too. Is the registration for a car with two bodies, or per body?
