Sport mirrors on a Gen 1 Camaro?

I currently have the standard chrome mirrors on my Camaro. I am going to have some paint work done, and am considering having sport mirrors painted at the same time.
I think Gen 2 mirrors are what some people use on the Gen 1 cars. Are they a direct fit? I.E. is the door skin angle is the same so they sit level? Do they, by chance, use the same or similar mounting brackets? In other words, can they be installed & changed back if I decide?
Or, is there a better choice of mirror? I want a stock looking type rather than something more "swoopy" or aero, like some of the custom mirrors. Power or cable op adjustable is not needed.

Thanks for the education!

i just installed a pair on a 69. Shaved a little bit off the bottom edge to get them to sit like I wanted.

Which one or who's did you use?

OER brand

Mounting points are different. I used OER as well and drilled the two mounting holes so the mirror covers the existing holes, as well as to be positioned correctly. Good tip on shaving the bottom edge.

These are a good deal @ $175/pr. vs. the $300 for a new set. By the description, they are used. Have you bought from them? Happy with the quality?

I have a used set of bullet mirrors from a Buick GS/Skylark that I'd be willing to sell. I'm not sure they will work for this application though.

mirrors

Stock style second gen ones are made in carbon as well but the Ring brothers have some that fit and look good as well...

I did not purchase from them, but they came to me highly recommended.

I fitted a pair of second gen mirrors to my 67. The vent Windows require them to be more rearward, mainly the passenger side. I liked them with flat gaskets, so I made my own out of thick black plastic sheet.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will likely go with a set of the $175 "used" ones. Seems like a good buy if they are great condition.

Love the look. Will put on a set if I need to repaint or need painting repairs.

One of the bummers of getting a car already painted.
