66 Chevelle Restomod/ Protour
1 Attachment(s)
I bought this car a little over a year ago and had just tinkered with it while I finished up other projects. Its a 1966 SS clone that was originally a 136 car. The interior and chrome were all new when the car was restored around 8 years ago, the body was a good 10 footer but starting to show some defects that untouched would have driven me bonkers. The car came with a 383 that ran great! but I personally think there's nothing worse than a car that's advertised as a BB but has the SB when the hood come up. I originally started into it around last spring with the motor first and then drove it some more until I ripped it apart at thanksgiving with plans for completion late this spring. My plan is for a nice Restomod Driver that slowly transforms into a Pro Touring type car as Cash allows.

For Thanksgiving I went to the "Turkey Run " in Daytona beach. While I was there I bought some new wheels and tires and some wildwood breaks. When I got home I tried the wheels on with the thought that I was still going to drive it for a while, but, once I saw the stance I knew the look wasn't what I wanted and it needed a 2" front end drop and color change. That's where the fun started! The wheels are Coys 18x9.5 and 18x8.

New trunk came first, that was a PITA, im a big guy and don't fit in trunks like I did as a teen.

Next I stripped the body. Very good sheetmetal with the exception of a couple small patches on the bottoms of the quarters and corner of one door.

seats?
Ive been looking at TMI I seats and am considering going with a set of their pro buckets. My bench will need to go and by the time I buy a set of cores and redo them I would be way deeper in price. Anyone use them? fit? comfort ? thanks.

back to prime/block prime /block, I hate body work and every car I do I swear its my last, the body jobs just cost too damn much!

Been dreading it but spent the warm weekend stripping and cleaning undercoat from the chassis and frame. the pile doesn't look big but it was caked on, guess that's why the floors are original and look great and are ready for paint.
