Which Brakes are best?
I know this probablly has been asked a lot but I am looking to buy 14" brakes front and rear for my project and it looks like Baer are a lot more expensive than the Wilwoods, especially the rears,my question is are Baer any better and worth the difference in price.I am not going to be racing but want to fill up my open wheels better than the 12" & 13" brakes did.I really like the Baer silver calipers and need brakes if any dealers want to send me a quote, fronts are C6 and rears are Ford Torino new style ends w/2.36 offset, thanks for any help.

Brakes are over rated, they only slow you down. :drive:

I've had two Baer systems, 6P and 6S and the 6P's would be perfect for what you're doing. plus they look good too :)

Check out the newer Wilwood Aero / Spec 37 stuff.

both wilwood and baer are good

I recently installed the Aero-6 and Aero-4 calipers. Pretty good stuff. I'm sure Baer is great also.

The ones that work, couldn't resist,
sold my Baer stuff, have Wilwoods on the Nova, they work good, |
Aero6 caliper kit over c6 z51 DBA5000 13.4" 2 piece rotors. No problems hauling down my sbc 1st gen Camaro.
I went 13.4" to make sure they clear 18s and the rotors are lighter. Plus I found a smoking deal on the rotors. Put the front kit together for $1300 No road course sessions yet but a few autoX and they work great with 12.9" wilwood 4p fnsl mod lite rears If I was gonna go big $$ I'd get stop tech trophys. |
Thanks guys,I appreciate all the replies.

I have 6 piston 13" Wilwoods and they have PLENTY of stopping power.

I've owned both and prefer the Baer. I went with the nickel plated(extra cost) and I love the way they look.

They are both really nice. Unless you get a comparable deal on the Baer brakes then I would go with the wilwood's. I have C6 Z06 fronts (Baer) with 14" rotors and Baer T4 rears with 13" or 13.4" 2pc rear rotors. Got the fronts for $400 new and the rears with parking brake for less than $800 new. Otherwise I was going wilwood or C6 Z06 front and rear.

Wilwood has been around over 30 years. We have been selling their parts since day one and have had very good success with them. Their parts are used on everything. Daily drivers, NASCAR, Military Vehicles.
Their new Aero caliper is one bad dog! They designed it to accept thicker pads for endurance racing, among many other features. Baer is a fairly new company that makes a decent product. They very much cater to the customer who wants a custom look on their calipers. The primary difference is in their basic design. Baer really plays up the monoblock thing while Wilwood has two piece calipers and is able to offer a wider selection as a result. |
I've had both -- and far prefer the Wilwoods. Baer pads are just too "hard" for street driving = takes too much heat to get 'em to work well.
