Need HELP! Moving to Gilroy CA

Morning ... I have accepted a job offer in Gilroy CA and need recommendations for storing my 67 Camaro. Called around to storage units and they said they "can't store a non-op car on the grounds!" What? I have a quote from Reliable Carriers to get it there, just no place to put it inside outa sight!

Any recommendations? I am on a waiting list for house rentals, so it could be some time before I can put her in a garage. One moving company said I could leave the car on their truck and just pay storage for the whole truck ... so far best option!

Michael

TheJDMan 03-08-2016 10:27 AM

Do they ask what you will be storing now days? I might be able to understand them saying that if the car was stored outside in the open, but what difference does it make in a garage? I think I would call around to different storage facilities and if they ask what you are storing just tell them car parts. Technically it would be true.

BTW, Congratulations on the new job!

I use a Public Storage indoor unit to store 4 cars and 2 motorcycles and have never had any issues with them about it.

Thanks guys ... this is the best news I've had all day, been a rough one ... had to put my 11 year old Great Dane down this afternoon. Bone cancer was taking it's toll on her quality of life and mine, so it was a hard decision but I'd like to think she's in heaven chasing squirrels right now!

Vince if you are sure you can spare space I would appreciate it ... I'm working w a property mngmt agency to rent in Gilroy or Hollister, I have to be at work SCRWA on April 4th.

Michael

Chief,
Condolences on your pup. We know they only go 10-15 years when we get them, yet it is so hard to lose them. It is hard to get another one right away, and hard not to.
Congrats on the new job & move. Boy, you got a plate full!

clill 03-09-2016 06:14 AM

There goes the neighborhood but welcome to the left coast. What is SCRWA ? Sorry about your Dane. Ours only live a little over a year and they are such sweethearts.

Thanks ... she is a good girl! I would like to think my Dane is chasing SQ Earls in heaven right now!

You bet I'll be there, I was thinking the same thing, just up the road!

Michael

Thunderhill April 23-24.

rustomatic 03-11-2016 02:07 PM

Welcome to the other side--hope you like garlic!

Condolences on the doggy--a Great Dane living to 11 is like a human hitting 95. That dog had a nice, unusually long life, so there's something to be happy about there.

YES we are!

Grab a room QUICK!!!

Baymont is pretty reasonable and right next to where we eat @ CASA RAMOS FTW! (Charlie and I stay at the Holiday Inn). You can watch Charlie get hammered on Tequila!! LOL

No charge to get in to the track! Track is 7 miles WEST of I-5 on hwy 162 (the main street that runs thru Willows and runs east and west. Head west and you can't miss the track - it'll be on the right side. Or just follow all the car trailers.

Sorry to hear about your dog Michael. We have one that concerns me, and I am feeling worse about it daily.

We were in the same town and never met. Two years until retirement and I will have some time to do whatever I want.

Best wishes on the new job, and safe travels.

You probably won't miss the white stuff!

rustomatic 03-31-2016 10:15 AM

You're just in time for the ultimate contrast in weather. Better still, you're now so close to Laguna Seca, that place where people race Camaros from time to time . . . Congrats on the move!
