1952 Chevy 3100
I made a 7 hour journey to Pennsylvania and picked this truck up on St. Patrick's Day. I got it in the shop yesterday and started running through it, getting an initial assessment on the truck.
http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscnwpjwup.jpg What I've got is a very original 1952 Chevrolet 3100, still running the 216CI inline 6 cylinder, with the 3 speed on the column. The truck is still a 6 volt system. The truck came with 4 new tires, a new wood bed kit, tailgate, and some random paperwork. So far what I've found, the truck is pretty solid aside from both the kick panels. I found one of the wheel bearings was completely destroyed, so I rebuilt the front brakes, on both sides and threw in new bearings. Of course I found some interesting wiring which i've started to fix as I find it. The overall plan for this truck is to keep it on the road as much as I can, Try to enjoy it while I work on it. Initial plans are -New Glass -Convert to 12V system -New Wiring Harness -Disc Brakes Way down the road I'll get real serious and do a frame swap and an LS but thats not until the Camaro is finished. Now the reason everyone is here....Pics. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxswnxnhn.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psogdcguxj.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pshcot8wmi.jpg She's got a few pedals.... http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pst43a9tcb.jpg |

Wheel Bearing,or what used to be a wheel bearing
http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psv4dmehik.jpg Got to the brakes, to discover i was missing this retention pin for the brake shoes, had to phone a lot of buddies and one eventually turn up. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pseq56pcim.jpg Maybe someone can help me out here, I know the C is Choke, what is T supposed to be hooked to? I found the Cable in the engine bay not hooked up. T=throttle? T=timing? http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psamybcqqi.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psouoorniv.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psrpm6fzw1.jpg Taillight wasn't working, started pealing back the Electric tape to find this. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psvph3jsnk.jpg Heres a shot of the kick panels, Im afraid to remove these patches http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psqhdhg5fa.jpg |

That's a nice find. I'm sure there's more than a few mysteries waiting to be discovered. No way it's one missing pin and on hacked electrical splice. I love the starter pedal...that's pretty cool and it's the perfect time of the year to just cruise around in it as is and enjoy.
I dig the full frame and LS plan. Congrats man, that's pretty cool. |
Here's a great read on your T knob. It's a throttle control...

Frame and LS are a ways down the road. |

Sweet truck! Since this is Lateral G, I think we can agree that "T" stands for TURBO. It's just a bit of foreshadowing at this point.:y0!:

Anything new transpired here? :poke:

Update time
Well I have been making moves on the 52, I picked up a donor car dirt cheap from a buddy. LS1/T56, and anything else I can steal off the car. Going to be purchasing my new suspension next week, hopefully have the truck underway mid march!

Donor
Well I got home from a trip, started tearing down the donor car. Motor and trans are out, the starter mounting tab is broken on my block so that's going to be a fun repair. I guess now I wait for suspension
http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7yf0hbab.jpg Here's a picture of the broken starter tab http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psnriepzvk.jpg Shop is pretty full right now http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...pszy6jmoez.jpg |
Awesome truck! My first project was a 1947 GMC, I loved that truck. Can't wait to see what you do with yours.
Cheers, Sandro |
Cool project. My grandfathers 54 ended up in Sweden. I always wished I had done something with it before it got away.

stuff is starting to trickle in
Go fast stuff is arriving :G-Dub:
I'll be taking the motor out to get that starter tab repaired soon. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psato3ggri.jpg |
Those are some FAT tires for the truck! Really looking forward to seeing it later this year. It's a cool truck to cruise as is and turns a lot of heads. When it's done....pretty sure most people are going to be mind blown. Total Sleeper!!
 |
Nothing special
Decided to run through the motor, found some stuff inside the oil pan I didn't like so tore it apart
Also my wheels showed up http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psoaf0octj.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...psgosfzutn.jpg http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0okpswsl.jpg |
