69 camaro, g-comp suspension, speedway motors catalog parts

This will be a garage build using speedway motors g-comp front and rear suspensions and a lot of other parts from the various catalogs. For full disclosure my name is Dave Wallace and I work at speedway motors as the production manager. I will be buying all of the parts the same as a customer would and make what I can't buy for this project at home in a 3 stall garage. I've been lurking around for a few years looking for the right project car to buy and then a good plan to build a track/street car. I finally found a good car that a friend made me a good deal on except it was used as a drag car. It had a lot of good parts but some not so good home made rear suspension. I drove the car home from an airport hanger the first week of March and got started assessing what I had gotten into! I won't bore you to much with the basic tear down pictures but I will start with the rear suspension first and then move on to the front. Here are how it looked after a quick washing, it was basically in storage and not used from around 2000. The tear down started later that week. I will be up loading photos shortly

Watching with interest, Dave.:peepwall:

Speedway website shows no info on Camaro stuff except spindles - just Nova stuff.

Hey Dave, nice to see you here. I'm not sure if we've met in person before as I'm terrible with names but I have been around the Speedway trailer a few times at events. Looks like you have a decent starting point with the Camaro, are you keeping the big block? I'm assuming you'll be setting the rear suspension up much like Al's Camaro, for the rest of you that aren't familiar with it...this should be a fun watch.

For pictures hosting, it generally works best if you upload the pictures to a third party hosting site like photobucket...then once the pictures are hosted you just copy the image embed code and paste it in a reply box here. It'll look something like this except without the spaces.

I feel your pain. Hahaha!!!
While I'm wishing for things, can I have a larger shop to house the table and all the other metalworking tools I want that is equipped with a two post lift as well? :D

SSlance, we way have met but I'm not sure. Yes the rear of the car will be similar to Al's car other than I'm fabing up most of it from components from the 2nd gen camaro and the nova. The car had all ready been cut up in the rear so it had nothing left stock wise that the kits we are working on would pertain too. The photo of the rear end table was to verify my dimensions and how I'm setting up my rear end, some of the things I will be doing may be of value to the engineering department at a later date. That is why a few things were measured and checked on the jig table. Here is a shot of what I started with when it still had the 12 bolt in it

I forgot to answer the question about the big block. Yes it will be going back to the car for the time being. I would like to try and work with it to try some auto cross, track days and a few standing mile type events. It also helps that it was fresh when I got the car and it made right at 500 hp at the rear wheels on a chassis dyno. I've since changed a few things so it will be going to the engine dyno soon for a few pulls. Im also are interested in seeing how a big block(= extra weight!) will work with our g-comp suspension for handling purposes. I think there are a lot of cars with big blocks sitting around and the owners may want to do some type of pro touring build but may not be interested in buying or switching motors.

Here are a few pictures figuring out ride heights and close to full compression and where I will mount and make clearance for the truck arms. I will try to get it so that I can get it low if I would like but not probably as low as the lowest photo. I'm also building the frame rails from the front sub frame to the rear of the
