Thanks Wayne, getting ready to retire and wife's letting me have a shop..Gotta love a good woman, the entire pour below is shop, stairs up to the main living space and a theater (man cave)...looking forward to retirement:lol:

waynieZ 05-26-2016 09:18 PM

The wife will have to drag you out of there when she wants to see you. It's going to be fun to watch it all go up.

Che70velle 05-27-2016 11:14 AM

Lenie, glad to see you still have the car. I heard that you sold it.
What part of the country is this "shop" being built? Congrats on the soon to be retirement!!!

Indeed Wayne, always wanted a true shop to work in, this one is 30' x 60' with the last 24' in width going back 44' deep. Could only go with 10' ceiling do to height restrictions but gonna have to live with it eh!!

Thanks Scott, couldn't bring myself to sell it when I had the chance after putting all those years into it, but you never know, may have to sell it to complete this build....just like a car, many a unexpected extra cost :popcorn2: I'm Just outside Seattle Wa. next to Tacoma in a little town called Ruston...It's an awesome place.

Nicely done Lenie! Nice of you to wait until mine was all done and I'm moved in. You know I don't like being one upped! LOL

What's the finish date? How much of the work are you doing?

Artist rendition of the finial product?

XOXO
Greg

Hi Greg, I'm having subs do the shell until completely enclosed, I'll help with the roof and I'll do the siding. Hopefully enclosed by end of summer/september, then I'll do everything on the inside from the studs to completion...I'm thinking a year from that point.

Very cool Lenie! I knew the area looked familiar, my cousin is selling her place on 41st and N37th. She ended up buying a place in.....GigHarbor! Great car scene in that area, maybe I'll see you at Griot's sometime.

Thanks, being my own contractor/designer takes up all my time...no time to enjoy the car. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end.

Hi Wayne, a lot of in between work but should be pouring shop slab next Wednesday along with remaining garage footings and walls then start framing the following week. This is the shop which sits below the house. Gets a little hectic at times but trying to follow a good friends sound advice and just enjoy it as it progresses.

Lenie -- Houses - it seems - are like hot rods -- some times you just have to remember that this is supposed to be "FUN"..... when you find yourself in a bad space - just think about it this way -- "I'm not going to let this house kill me like Weld did" LOL

clill 07-07-2016 09:45 AM

That's not funny !😠

Greg, always good talking with you. I'm enjoying it, you know being your own contractor always adds a little to the game. Expecting to see you once I've completed. By the way, when's your house warming party :welder: ???? Build a house, have a party :rules: :D

:tv_happy:  Renting now and on a mission, you know when your remodeling it's usually a 30 year project..

waynieZ 07-09-2016 12:40 PM

If it takes 30 years for a remodel I'll have to change the section I have my thread on my car in.

Josh@Ridetech 07-29-2016 01:14 PM

Congrats on the new shop!

Thanks guys, I'm stoked but it's definitely been stressful being my own contractor and trying to stay within budget:drowninga: Can't wait to get finished and start back into cars.

Josh@Ridetech 09-01-2016 10:20 AM

That's going to be great! Happy for you bud!

GregWeld 09-02-2016 10:25 PM

Is it done yet??

Ketzer 09-03-2016 05:49 AM

I enjoy seeing the construction pics... and I know youre taking a bunch!

CRCRFT78 09-03-2016 11:41 AM

Just out of curiosity (I know nothing about building homes), could you have run a shorter beam spanning the other way to hold up the larger beam to keep an open floor plan?

Hi Jose, the other way widths are 30' and 44' deep. W/O spending a ton more money, this was the easiest way.

Lenie 09-05-2016 02:05 AM

 didn't want to over do it.:flashie:
