66 Chevelle LS7/TKO600 Supercharged Warhawk. Speedtech kit on order!

Well hello!
Decided to register at your fine page and show what Im building to get some help with issues that may occur.

I have been building a Pro Street 63 Impala for several years, but a couple of years ago I decided a want a cruiser car so I found a 66 chevelle from you guys and shipped it to Sweden.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...e708cbcf9d.jpg

Drove it over the summer 2014 when I got it home and registered it over here. Found some small issues I wanted to fix, the heater was broke.
We have cold summers over here.

it had a stock newer 454 and TH400 in it, that ran very nice but more power is always nice. The plan from the start was to swap cam and intake and run Holley EFI on it but all hell broke loose :D

Love the 66 model year cars. Welcome to the site!

warhawkchevelle 06-23-2016 12:00 PM

Thanks guys!

Moved it to our club garage and started looking for rust as I had a bad leak from the windshield.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...A51BAD0B7B.jpg

Removed interior, frontclip and windshield and put the grinder down.
POOF, bondo everywhere!

Maybe this should be moved to projects?
Any admin who can help me?

Done.

No. He wanted to know if you'd go to Sweden and fix the rot.

:poke:

Che70velle 06-23-2016 08:12 PM

Beautiful car! I'm gonna build a 66' one day. Hate that you found a mess under that paint. Unfortunately this happens all too often. Did you also notice that the engine was in the car backwards? Kidding!

rixtrix1 06-23-2016 09:42 PM

Nice to see you sharing here, especially with a '66 Chevelle! It's a sad thing to find all that body cancer under nice paint. Mine wasn't quite that bad, but I had to replace both lower and upper corners of the windshield, too, as well as the filler panel at the back window. Please keep us posted on your updates.

warhawkchevelle 06-23-2016 11:25 PM

Thank you guys!
Yeah, that rost sucked bigtime especially when I bought the car from a dealer in the States with a supposedly good reputation.
if only they could have mentioned the windshield leak.
I dont think they were the ones doing the crappy fix, but hell water poured in everywhere.

Fixed all of the rust plus welded some holes shut in the firewall.

It was about this time Idecided to go LS and TKO600 and started looking for parts here in Sweden.
It takes about 2-3 months to ship parts from you via boat, and airfreight is a bit pricey for such big stuff ;)

pro66tour 06-24-2016 07:39 AM

Welcome! Have to keep pressing on, looking much better already. Will be following your build...

waynieZ 06-24-2016 12:19 PM

Welcome Sorry to se the rust in the windshield, hopefully that will be the extent of it.

Sold off the 454 and started looking for some kind of LS engine, didnt really know anything about them back then.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...18E879FE2A.jpg

These pics are backdated, trying to catch up a little bit.
Here are the front section of the frame painted black and firewall is about to get some paint also!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...898DA884AF.jpg

Found an LS engine, itīs a LS7X Warhawk engine.
Used engine with one wrecked head, piston and rod-damage in one cylinder so some work required but the price was nice.

Katech built engine that sat in a twinturbo z06 with poor tuning from the guys that ran it here in sweden.

Needed a new head, new rods and pistons.
The Callies crank was okay :)

warhawkchevelle 06-29-2016 12:46 PM

No work on my Chevelle for two weeks now.
Time to go racing with this mean machine

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...2A7FAA2043.jpg

25.1E chrome moly chassis with full carbonfiber 65 chevelle body!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...968424FC24.jpg

New engine this past winter.
CN Billet engine block with AJPE billet heads.
526cui and topped off with a PSI D-screw blower pumping out around 3500hp.
Not my car, but a friend of mine and Im one of the mechanics.
Learn more about the car and our team at www.abmracing.com

The sticker on the injector translates something like this: Expensive as f*ck but paid for ;)

That's not really that bad, as long as that is all of it. I bought my 66 from a body shop owner that had his guys working on it during dead time (for years). It was in primer and looked pretty straight, although I could see evidence of patches on the back sides of panels. By the time I got through removing stuff I didn't like, this is what it looked like. LOL Now it has nice, new, straight AMD panels over a blasted and epoxy painted skeleton. Looks better, but it was a lot of work. Good luck with your project.

Wow, thats insane!
Good work!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...1AD50381A4.jpg

Firewall painted, think it looks nicer than black firewall as it were before 👍🏻

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...66C24C52E4.jpg

Got the new Pistons for my ls7

warhawkchevelle 07-17-2016 12:23 PM

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...99468C993C.jpg

The block was bored to 4.155 so with my 4.00" crank it was a 434 cui.
New Wiseco pistons and Callies rods was balanced together with the crank.
And bottom was assembled.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...AC3D1FD35F.jpg

Modified a Holey pan for crank clearance and put an AN-bung for oil return from the supercharger.

WSSix 07-19-2016 05:04 PM

I agree the firewall looks great in body. Good choice. Keep it up!

warhawkchevelle 08-11-2016 12:40 AM

Thank you very much!
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...A8EBBEE1A2.jpg

This past winter I got some parts to the car.
A new TKO600 for the LS
Hydraulic clutch conversion
Manual centerconsole
New wiring.

warhawkchevelle 10-13-2016 01:24 PM

Long time no see.
Been real busy at work but gonna get going on the car more from now on.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...26BF19A645.jpg

The engine complete except complete heads, my new ones are still at the machineshop. Had to redo all valve seats and get retainers in correct offset for my springs.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ECD9F3E105.jpg

Got my Speedtech chassis brace kit last weekend and a set of 335/30-18 tires.

Im going DSE speed 3 kit, just need to save a bit more money .

How wide tires can I run in the front?
Reshaping innerfenders isnt a problem, just curious if I need to do any mods on the frame in the front also.

Would like to run 275 at least.

warhawkchevelle 10-30-2016 12:46 AM

Thanks guys!
I live in med Sweden, in Dalarna.
A small town called Malung.
Waiting for the snow to come now.

Yeah, the motor should give plenty of power.
The specs are:
Warhawk LS7X block and heads.
Callies 4.00" crank.
Callies rods.
Wiseco 4.155 Pistons. 8:5 compression. Gonna run E85.
Bullet custom solid roller cam. .696 lift I believe.
Isky bushinglifters.
Crower shaft mount rockers.
All Manley parts in the heads, fullported also.
Holley hi-Rise manifold, looking to get a lower later on.
Holley injectors and TB, dominator efi.
Aeromotive beltdriven fuelpump.
Holley acc drive.

minendrews68 10-30-2016 08:14 PM

A few years ago I was in Gothenburg for about eight days for work. Man I loved that town, the architecture was astounding. Even took a ride through town out to the bay through the canal.

warhawkchevelle 11-06-2016 09:34 AM

Gothenburg is a nice city.
I live more north though.

The grinding and welding continues, will redo the factory welds in front and middle completely before I get started on kickup and the rear.

I will build a tube crossmember for the upper rear crossmember mounts also.

One side done!

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...0D0D67A8A3.jpg

Got my new heads, LS7X Warhawk with all Manley parts. Set up for my solid roller camshaft. Crower rockers. The stands are being milled down a bit for proper geometry.

Also bought a Buxton springtester.
Really nice piece.

Starting to look for suspension, thinking of going Speedtech.

Mikael A 12-10-2016 12:34 PM

Looking good keep at it

WSSix 12-11-2016 07:10 AM

Got a little bit more on the motor.
Put in the lifters and mounted a head so I could check the rockergeometri and measure the pushrods.

Manton pushrods are on order.

A bit more work Done on the frame also, welder broke down so gotta get parts for it tomorrow

Che70velle 01-06-2017 11:51 AM

I like what your doing here with the chassis. Reminds me of what I did with mine.
This build is exceptional!

Last side done, Im gonna fabricate new coilover-mounts in thicker steel and more fun design.

Anybody got any ideas on how to reinforce upper crossmember?

66tintop 01-07-2017 07:08 PM

Excellent fabrication skills ( especially for home built ) I like everything about the changes, for the upper crossmember , I wouldn't be scared to just cut it out and replace with a 2x3 rectangular tubing with re and re mounts ? Maybe even make the upper mounts adjustable ? Just a thought 😋 Keep up the great work !!!

warhawkchevelle 01-08-2017 02:10 AM

Thank you very much!

I like the design of the stock crossmember though, maybe waterjet a front piece in a thicker gauge and then build a boxed profile thats about 2" but stock height?
