65 coupe restomod buildup thread **DUW**
I am in the process of building a 1965 resto mod that was passed down to me completly stock when my grampa passed away about a year ago. Around 6 months ago I decided to sell my cobra (a 500hp 10sec. street/strip car) to build this one of a kind hot rod.
The car is currently in the body shop getting the body and paint done. It will have a 3in cowl hood, shelby front valence, billet grils, shaved door handles, shaved drip rails, shaved antenna, smoothed firewall and engine compartment. The color is called Aluminum Metallic Flake which in the shade looks like a real light silver and in the sun gives of an extremly bright aluminum flake look. It will have gt500 "super snake" stripes and rocker stripes painted a ghost frost blue pearl. The motor is going to be a carberated 347cid stroker thats a full roller based off of a 92. It will have 10.5 to 1 compression with Racing Head Service aluminum racing heads flowing around 215. THe cam is a comp at 560/560 lift. It has a c4 with a 3500 stall all competition internals, full manual reverse pattern valve body. The rearend is an 8.8 with 3.55 gears. THe suspension is all new consisting of 1in lowring springs, new tubular a-arms, and fat sway bars. I am going for that "g-machine" look. The pony will be rolling on a set of 17x9 silver fr-500 wheels. ANd the int is all customed upholstered pony blue and light grey bench seat. I also have a chrome flaming river tilt column and manuel rack and pinion for it. I will keep this threa updated as the process goes on. Here are some pics of deconstruction and new parts for her. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...01-06_1511.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...01-06_1513.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...01-06_1514.jpg |

Cool, looks nice, thanks for the pics... you've done a lot of work in 6 months...
|
Since I am done with school for the summer all I do is go to work (I'm a salesman and latmodel tech at Texas Mustang Parts) then go home and work on the mustang. By the way, the I should be finished with the motor by the end of the weekend.

I decided on my carb. Its a Quick Fuel 650cfm Drag carb. Here is a pic of it on the same intake I have.

It looks very nice and seems to
really be coming together. I know you have to be excited. Not too much love being given to the coupes, but yours should change that.
I see that you are running a rack. Was it a kit or did you piece it together? If it is a kit, whose is it? I am assuming that it is a manual rack? |
Beautiful Color !
