How could I run these on my 70 camaro? I already have 4 disk brakes buy bigger is better

RyanB88 07-16-2016 05:40 PM

I'm actually running the same setup front and rear on my 69 Camaro.

I had to use a Baer backing plate and an oversized parking shoe to get the parking brake to work. But This setup is the best bang for the buck that I have found! Its been working awesome on my car.

What did you do for front hubs?

RyanB88 07-19-2016 01:57 PM

I used the stock drum brake hubs (actually the Kore 3 aluminum hubs, but the stock drum brake hubs work too). For the caliper brackets, I used LS1 Camaro conversion brackets and drilled out the holes since the Brembo caliper bolts are larger diameter.

I believe I did have the center hole of the front rotors honed out by a machine shop. But that was pretty simple and only cost about $50.

Any idea if these will fit behind a 17" wheel?

JKnight 09-22-2016 05:45 PM

What do you mean by "oversize lug holes"? Were they enlarged from stock?

Thats what was stated when I got them. I think what they mean is that it has a larger clearance for studs on older generation vehicles, such as ours. When I was looking into doing this mod, I did read that many people have problems fitting studs through regular rotors, thus meaning these enlarged ones would eliminate that problem....atleast thats what I think.

I think you need 18's at the least.

slimjim 09-23-2016 05:12 AM

The rotors will need to be re-drilled in most cases and these will not fit behind 17's, I have these installed on my 68 camaro and with boze 18" wheels, there is maybe 1/4" space between caliper to wheel, very tight.
Oh and you definitely cannot use stock brake pads...but why would you

dojob 09-23-2016 05:33 AM

The 5th gen camaro rotors are made for the car's 5x120 bolt pattern but will fit 5x4.5" (5x120.7) bolt pattern, due to the mentioned larger bolt holes that come standard.

The main issue with the rotors is the hub bore at 67.4mm, in most cases it needs enlarged to 70.7mm (c6 vette hub bore). Simple, cheap, and easy machine work. Typically like $20/pair

Gotcha. I'm looking for a set to put on my wife's V6 5th generation daily driver, so stock would have worked for me actually.
