1969 Camaro Convertible at BBT Fabrication - let the extensive metal work begin
Troy, Pete and the rest of the BBT crew have had my car since the beginning of the year. This is my second pro-touring car with extensive mods. My 59 Vette was the July 2011 Feature Car. The body was bought back in 2010 from Phil at the Roadster Shop. It was the actual car they used to design the first Camaro Fast Track chassis. Attached our some preliminary renderings, I trust Troy and my eyes to make modifications along the way. I've always liked wide body Camaro's so the back is widened 4 inches. I'll post progress pics to this point over the next week or so. This will be a multi-year project so I hope you enjoy the process with me. Lateral-g has always been a great community so I thought it is my time to share.http://http://i1382.photobucket.com/...psrizokood.jpg

It's nice to see you start a thread on this. Been watching the build since it was dropped off at the BBT. You told me a lot about the details at dinner when we were at Columbus, can't wait to see it finished. Mike |

Marty, you suck you can clearly post pictures faster then me. Here's 3 pictures of the major steps in the top part of the quarter panel widening. I wanted more of a wedge shape so it is widened 2 inches at the rear on both sides. You can see a much bigger pie cut out and then shaping the piece for a seamless transition.

Wow that looks slick!! Beautiful job.

Progress looks good! Does anyone know what wheels (look like OEM spares) are being used as rollers on the front? Any information would be appreciated.
|
Not sure how I missed this one. This is going to be a great build. The rendering looks fantastic. Good luck with the build!

I'm going to have to agree with everyone. That's some kind of serious fabbing skills! This is going to be sweet!

The outer are getting done now, they match the piece behind the rear wheel. I wanted somethings subtle but would cover the pinch weld. Thanks for looking! |
Beautiful metal work!

Excellent fabrication work.

Ok time for updates, here is the final tail panel fits with the license plate recess set. The hate how big the plates are so some of it will be tucked under the rear bumper.
