1967 camaro "time to decide on suspension" ridetech maybe???
3 Attachment(s)
hello everyone,
First time poster and I am sure this has been covered but I have been searching for answers and I am having a hard time figuring out what to do. Ive been building this vehicle for years and I am a month out from picking it up from paint and body and I have decided to wait to finish the under body until all the suspension is done.. was going to lizard skin or POR 15 the bottom but was told to hold off till its mini tubbed and suspension was complete. The suspension system I have come across a couple times is the RIDE TECH coil-over system for around $4000 and after seeing JON FREE's 1968 camaro and I am sold.. I have the similar color and i really like the BOZE wheels on his so not to copy much here but his vehicle has the stance i like and everything and im not sure if he's using the stock sub frame or not but im using mine and ive already power coated it and its done so no need to buy a aftermarket i don't think. I know I can Detroit speed my vehicle for a little more money and have a 3 inch drop in the rear and 2 in the front and reach the same stance but the RIDE TECH seems to do the job for less and I hear its great.. and and all opinions are really appreciated. I am posting some before and after pictures of progress. |
There are many great choices out there for your car. It just needs to fit your wants and budget! We can work with you on a kit, as well as anything else you will need.

Hi,
Have you seen my thread: https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=53284 It's some interesting answers there.. |
Thank you all for the reply's and thank you Carlsson for the forum thread link, that was very helpful! I think RIDE TECH is the way to go and its around a $1000 cheaper than DETROIT SPEED.
One question I do have is before i upgrade all the suspension should i already have the rear end that im going to keep and use for right now I have a original 10 bolt with drum brakes and I want to upgrade to a MOSER 12 inch with disc and i think it will be wiser to do it all at the same time instead of waiting to break my 10 inch then replace.. lol :bigun2: |
You may want to wait because with the Ridetech you have to weld tabs on your rear end housing.
|
You do have to weld the upper 4 tabs. I have a lot of customers who just run what they have, and when ready to swap rears, just pickup another set of tabs.

It boils down to the op's intended use for the car, and his budget. Just my $0.00002 |
I am in the same process getting ready to get a ridetech level 2 system. Does anyone know if the speedtech rack and pinion will work with the level 2 and tru turn?

With the design of the TruTurn, the bumpsteer is basically eliminated. The geometry of the system puts everything in better working angles and creates a much nicer feel (especially if you opt for a nice upgraded steering box). The Turn One steering boxes that we sell are built with "rack and pinion valving" and won't leave you with any negative effects. http://www.ridetech.com/store/turn-o...ering-box.html |

Sorry to the OP |
After much reading and asking questions first let me say both Speedtech and Ridetech have a great product and customer service even before you buy their product. I have a 69 FB Conv and will not be autocrossing and mainly want a modern handling and capable car and I drive mine, Did route 66 in my original 68 Camaro Conv 327/auto. I reached out also to Ron Sutton and he has been great to ask me first what I want to do with the car. All being said I have chosen to go with the complete Speedtech pro touring front and rear set up from Ron Yes it is a little more on the front end but my FB requires purchasing different steering center link and more fab work if I choose the ridetech plus I have to pay to have the rearend, subframe etc. powder coated. The speedtech will come completely powder coated and ready to install, which is a big plus for my situation for slightly more after the above is considered.
In the end each situation, intended use, time frame and skill set is different so ask questions, be honest with yourself and research what will be best for you. In my case just glad to be getting started putting my first car back on the road. Now for the 525 LS :gitrdun: |
