Where to stay for SEMA 16...?

Just curious where the Lat-G crew are staying? Top places? Places to avoid?!?

Thanks!

I'm trying the New York New York this year!... but love the MGM last year.. the Tramway is in the hotel rear lobby! and goes directly at the site!..Can't speak about the New York new York tho!

That tram over to the event sounds great!

Im staying at MGM again. Quick walk to tram.

I stayed at the linq a few years ago. It wasn't to bad. Did the same caught the tram. I would recommend getting on a map of vegas and checking all the motels by the tram. It's very convenient..

IIRC, there is a bridge over the strip from NYNY to MGM, so you can use that to get to the Tram quickly.

We're trying the Mirage this year. Stayed at MGM last year. Tram was nice.. but the lines were a little crazy.

Any place with a tram would be my recommendation. YES, the tram can be crazy busy. Mainly in the mornings when everybody is going to SEMA and when everybody is leaving SEMA at 5PM. So either hop on a little early or late and you'll be fine. They do pack you on like sardines but there is a new tram every 7 minutes. Plan ahead a bit and you'll be good.

I'm at the Flamingo for what it's worth. Close, tram access, and only have to go downstairs for the Lateral-G party!

Out of all of the places I've stayed in Vegas, my personal favorite was the Wynn.

I stay at my home and drive to SEMA and back each day.:happy23:

If you want to do SEMA and Vegas id stay anywhere on the strip that the Tram goes to. you can just walk out of the back of your hotel and catch the train to the convention center in a matter of a few minutes. I made the mistake of just thinking "ill just stay across the street and just walk over to the tram" Wrong!

Due to how the Vegas strip is constructed (you have to walk over bridges to cross the strip) its a lot of walking just to get across the street to the tram and really you want to save all your energy for SEMA cause its HUGE with lots of walking!!

I have never stayed near the convention center due to the fact I wanted the best of both worlds, I wanted to attend SEMA but still enjoy being middle of the strip to "DO VEGAS".

Hope this helps..

Thanks everybody for the tips!
I took Tim's advice and booked into the Flamingo.

They also run shuttle busses from a number of hotels to and from Sema. Check the sema site.

The Flamingo should be avoided at all costs.

They didn't mind taking my reservation so yeah, prolly not very high standards at the Flamingo...

Lillard stays there - therefore - I don't.

LOL

I stayed there a couple days last year. Flamingo has the train that goes to the convention. It makes it convenient. Look at all the hotels that are connected on that tram line.
