New Old Car - 1967 Chevelle - Morrison Chassis, BBC

Got myself a new ride last week. Unlike the last one, I did not build this one... I made an impulse buy at a local dealership for a price I thought was pretty fair. The car has a few things my old one didn't, including a Morrison Chassis. I posted some pics I received from the builder.
So the story goes like this: I sold my car in hopes of taking some steps towards expanding the business. Things have gone well for the last couple of years, and on Labor Day weekend, I was cruising around the various sites and was suddenly struck with the nostalgia bug. I went as far as finding the new owner's email address and almost contacted him about maybe selling me my car back. But then I realized that it was too long of a shot and went to sleep instead.
The following Tuesday I am having lunch in Encinitas, and I see this thing poking out of used car lot. After the meal I go check it out and I immediately notice the components on the car. I start asking questions, but the sales guy tells me he has limited info, as the car just arrived. It hadn't even been detailed.
Turns out the car was built about a year and half ago for a relief pitcher for the Dodgers. it was driven into a shop in Arizona for a transmission repair, and instead, it got the full treatment of chassis, metal work, and some engine upgrades. There was a lot of pride in the work I took in my old ride, but I can tell you this much that this build is far superior to what I previously owned.

I tracked down the builder of the car, and he told me that his customer had brought in a video of what he envisioned. We quickly realized that he actually used my old feature on Drive to model for this build. see here:

I can tell you that the similarities in aesthetic between the two cars is uncanny. In fact, it made me think that perhaps it was meant to be. Well that was about all I needed, so I got the wife's blessing and brought it home.

Beautiful! Love the wheel choice too...classic but a hint of modern. That car will catch a lot of people off guard. I also love the white interior! Killer combo for sure.

Very nice, Enzo. 66 is my favorite year for the Chevelle. Your car is the perfect example. That BBC looks great under there. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. Spent the weekend cruising the kids around and even found some fun back roads and tested the car's turning abilities. Although it needs a few things like a tune up and different steering wheel, I am completely in love with this thing.

Thank you for the good words

been in hiding lately

I can't believe it's been a year since I got this thing. Anyway, it took me a few months but I got the car completely sorted out. Thought I would share a video and some of the latest pics of the car. My oldest son was helping me take some pics and I guess mom sent him to Video editing camp in the summer so he offered to make a video for me too. Tell me your thoughts

Agreed on all of the above and I can honestly say I am really digging the concept of Survivor looking builds. So much so it seems that is all i have been looking at lately.

The car is awesome and so if the fact that you are actually driving the car.

Wait did i mention that it is so cool that your son made the video. I think this is the best part.

Enzo great job with the 67 and great job by your son on the video. My son is showing more and more interest in my 69 Camaro probably due to the fact he's looking at getting his drivers license in just over a year from now.Like your Chevelle I try and get the family out as much as possible with my car...so far so good...cheers

After having the 66 with a high end paint job, I can tell you that i was extremely nervous whenever we took the car out. This one looks good, but not perfect. However the enjoyment I get now that my paranoia is no longer a factor is worth its weight in gold. Definitely adds a different element to owning a classic - feels more like it did when I was younger.
