So I want to do something a little different with this years pics as I think I have finally learned/confirmed something with myself this year.

I know a lot of us strive to build our cars and in some cases customers cars and each year the bar gets raised higher and higher (see Roadster Shop's Riddler build quality 69 Yellow Camaro). What I've learned is that there needs to be a starting point for each build. Which means try not to build a car that is out of your means being it skill, time or financial. Be honest with yourself as that is the mistake all of us make.

So I am going to pick a few cars that I think are really well done at 3 or 4 different levels. First being this beautiful 1970 Z28 that I bet 90% of the attendee's walked by thinking it was just a restored 1970 Z28.

Everything that was done to this car was done tastefully and could easily be done by anyone on this board.

Simple Details like longer wheel studs, open lug nuts and white outlined tires

Notice he actually kept the small block and just detailed it and he did it well. You can see he added down bars, stainless fuel lines, period correct overflow tank, Original Air Cleaner that draws fresh air from the cowl, and even mounted a remote oil filter on the stock fender brace.

My thoughts are simple. Buy Ride-Techs new Street Grip set up and swap it over the weekend and get out and drive the car before you tear it apart. Then slowly modify it as much allows.

That car is so my speed. Thanks for posting those. That car will outlast all of the ridiculous trends.

I have said it before, nobody appreciate more the amount of workmanship that goes into these crazy builds but the older I get, the more enjoy and appreciate a simple, timeless, classy build. If I were to see that Z/28 going down the road, it would as big a smile on me as any crazy build. Plus that 1970 28 will be in flavor to the end of the UNIVERSE :-)

Yep, That is why I loved it so much.

I must getting older because my 70 was built with the less is more concept. Heck I didn't even want nice paint I just wanted something I could tinker with for the next 10 years. Eak !!! I just realized that in 10.5 years I will be turning 60.


Sorry I just didn't have the knowledge yet my son.

Next up is the 69 Camaro built by the guys at BBT with help from Mario & Mike of course.

Obviously this car is a giant leap up from the 70 Camaro and there are many levels in between that one
could build. But this one fits the bill as the level of cars are Sema this year was fantastic.

What I like about this car is that is simple (well kinda) DSE Chassis with a Big Block and a Manual Trans. There
is just nothing that can compare to the sound of a Big Block.

That 70 is fantastic! Love the minimal changes being done so cleanly.

Only thing I worry about is the exhaust. I hope that's not ride height for the car. He's going to kill those headers.

Any idea where he got the front sway bar?

Mario's car is just to nice to drive! That thing is just perfect!!!

So staying with the Muscle Car Theme. There are two more cars that are absolutely over the top. This one should have been a Riddler car as it's pretty much flawless.

The 69 Inferno Camaro built by the guys at the Roadster shop is well like no other Muscle car that I have ever seen built. The gaps are perfect, fit and finish is like no other muscle car, the interior quality, fit finish is impeccable and heck this car is simple over the top and I can't wait to see this car again.

Next Up is the Ring Brothers 69 Camaro and it is in one of my Favorite colors.

This car is also on another level and so well executed that it makes me want to sell everything I own because as with the last car. I feel I am not worthy.

Theres no doubt these daze are "crazy build daze"....every year thing things just get better and better.

When I walked the floor with Marty on thursday, we went over too that buttercup 2nd gen (the owners on this site from time to time, from canada iirc) Marty pointed out the special little details that need to be pointed out. My brain goes into "SEMA overload", i think that happens to alot of us. It costs nothing to make a part "cleaner", just time and effort, that can of elbow grease sitting on the shelf in the garage would come in handy.....but yeah, details overlooked, guilty.

Thanks dude, it was great spending the day with you, hope to do it on a mountain bike as well, soon.....

The best part about the Roadster Shop Camaro...the roof lines fading into the back window. WOW!

Thanks for the comments on the 70Z. I tried to keep the car as vintage looking utilizing updated parts and keep it timeless, by your comments I think I succeeded

Sway bar is a Speedway Engineering unit with custom bent arms.

The headers, the carpet the car was on was plush and car sank in the carpet. We have to rework the drivers side header as it hangs 1 inch lower than passenger side, once this is fixed should be no issues.

Your welcome and your car truly made me rethink how we should start building our cars. After years of following "Singer Porsche Builds" and saying to myself someone needs to do this with a muscle car as it would be really cool. So far you car has come the closest in my opinion to building exactly that.

I absolutely love the car, the build and all of the little details you did to make the car so perfect. I just wish I would have taken a few more pictures of the Interior on the car (the dash, front seats, headliner)

It's funny I can't stop thinking about how simple and perfectly executed this build is. Nice work and it was great talking with you at Sema. My offer still stands about parking your truck and trailer at my warehouse if you bring the car to the Muscle Car Show next year.

As requested. Wheel and tire sizes on the 70Z:
Font 18x9.5, 6 1/8 backspace, 275/35 tires, the inner fenders were modified for clearance.
Rear 18x9.5, 5 1/2 backspace, 285/40 tires outer tubs modified & lip rolled for clearance

Interior pictures as requested. Seat frames are reworked to add boaster when you sit in (hard to notice unless you put by a set of stock seats). Shift light added to dash. Reworked SW green line gauges. Custom made shift plate.

Thank you for posting the info on the backspacing and the rest of the pictures.

ps - I need to raise my seats up as I can barely see over the cowl hood. Sucks being short but the good news is I am still a little taller then Greg W
