Road Trip to pick up a car -- Part Deux

Within just a few days of exactly 3 years ago, some of you may recall the road trip that THE ROB and I took to rural New Hampshire to drive an old crusty Ford hauler back to California in the middle of winter. A road trip for the ages.

Well, it's time for another one. The same. But different.

This one is ONLY 2400 miles vs the 3400 miles last time. The timeline is a little tighter on this one (I have 2 kids to get back to this time). But I think the story behind this one makes it even better. More on that later.

I meet Rob in Houston tomorrow (Wednesday) and we fly over to Birmingham to get this party started.

So will this one be a Ford or a Chevy? :headspin:

Awesome. Looking forward to following this journey!

gerno 01-11-2017 06:20 AM

I already know some of the details from Rob spilling the beans but whats the plan beyond Houston and Birmingham??

Is the goal with this purchase to find something with more rust than that truck had and see if it makes it back in one piece?

So, should I subscribe to this thread to stay in the loop?

Loved the last adventure and it's about time for a repeat!!!

Che70velle 01-11-2017 08:12 AM

Yes you should Lance. No matter what the content of the trip is, this will be fun!

BMR Sales 01-11-2017 08:29 AM

Looking forward to the Adventure!

DBasher 01-11-2017 01:22 PM

I like how you mention a tight timeline, that word coming from you is hilarious! Does your wife actually believe you? :action-smiley-027:

Have fun, drive safe(ish) and enjoy the beer!

Probably a Ford Pinto knowing your dumb ass. How do you plan to fit the Sasquatch? :D

Spiffav8 01-11-2017 07:43 PM

This should be entertaining. :popcorn2:

WSSix 01-11-2017 07:57 PM

Safe travels, guys!

glassman 01-11-2017 08:06 PM

So, one question, did you trade the Def Leppard CD's for digital audio? don't know why i'm asking, but it will (may) be fun to watch.

We encountered a slight problem at the start of our trip.

Dave checked a bag. :twak:

Would you like to get on the TEXT TRAIN that started 3 years ago ---- you'll only get 3 to 400 texts per day. More sometimes..... LOL

Think he gave them the "tight timeline/Wife and kids" excuse? Probably the reason the officer is laughing.

rustomatic 01-12-2017 04:28 PM

Clearly, somebody was not keeping "Alabama the beautiful" (not my words--look at the road signs). I'm hoping you guys at least stopped at the Barber museum/park, being that it's in Birmingham-ish, unless the ticket knocked out your admission funds . . .

Aren't people supposed to get vehicles from California, then bring them east or south?

Doubtful --- he probably just caught a glimpse of Dickey's (FETornio) dueling plaids.....

Don't you worry, I'm sure it'll be shipped back east for "just a few upgrades" before too long.

fleetus macmullitz 01-12-2017 05:46 PM

Just...be careful.
