Mini tubbed spare tire/wheel ?

What is everyone using for a spare wheel/tire for their mini tubbed vehicle's ? I have a 69 Firebird that is mini tubbed and would like a nice, safe and trunk friendly spare tire/wheel combination. 5 on 4-3/4" stock GM axel. Thank You

Anybody carrying a spare tire in their mini tubbed first generation Firebird/Camaro ?

About the only thing I can think of that will clear big brakes would be the 04+ GTO.

Triple A card in my wallet.

I think a lot would depend on your axle length and backspacing needed. A spare might hit your inner wheel well, caliper clearance, lower suspension etc etc. You might have to get a spare in the exact rim your using now. There's to many variables to recommend a spare.

As stated above AAA works to.

Sadly, I've been a member of AAA since 1992, and I actually look forward to being able to use it on a yearly basis. That said, the C4 Corvette came with a nice 17-inch donut spare that might fit over your brakes (mine are only 12-inch rotors) . . .

This ^^^. It's all depends on how big your brakes are/axle width, etc...

Also, I'm looking at cts 18" spare as well. One member over pt.com was able to fit cts 18" spare over his Kore3 Z51 brakes on his 2nd gen Camaro.

I think you need a spare tire diameter the same as your tires on the rear....

Some guys carry BMW and CTS-V flat repair kits. You can find them on eBay.

That's my plan too. A non-matching diameter tire is going to make your diff hate you, shouldn't get you much farther than AAA, plus you gotta haul a jack.

Rather have a 20lb gto spare that I could put on so he can lift the csr on the flat bed or at least get me to the nearest store. Gto spare is 26" tall I think which is only .4 of a inch smallet than my 315/30/18 and 275/35/18

Thanks guy's, I had planned on measuring up a modern GTO spare wheel. What about the modern metric bolt pattern ? Will it bolt up to my factory 5 on 4-3/4" ? As for my brakes, they are factory drum and the rear differential is stock length. Thank you all for the feedback.

Test fit those GTO spares. The center bore is quite often too small and needs to be enlarged.

GTO won't work BUT you could get an adapter I suppose.

When was the last time anyone in this thread got a complete flat ?

I had one with my Corvette that had run flats and it shuddered so bad it was undrivable over 5 mph.

Most flats are due to puncture. If you had a plug kit and a decent compressor that would handle most situations.

5 on 120mm will bolt on and be fine for a spare tire.... You will just need to enlarge the center bore.

4-3/4" = 120.65 mm. As long as you don't mind a small portion of your lug nuts holding your wheel on I guess that's a good strategy. Not particularly good on your studs either. Whatever.

Done all the time. Guys running BMW wheels etc. Should be fine for a spare tire. There is plenty of discussion about this. Google it... There is even a finite element analysis out there.

Are y'all reccomending a full size GTO wheel/tire or the spare tire/wheel (doughnut) that came with the GTO. Please advise. Thank You.

The GTO spare (donut).

Looks like the 2017 Cadillac CT6 spare would be an option as well it's 5x120 and for sure would clear big brakes.

I use a 17" Corvette Donut spare. It's 25.5" tall so it's the same height as many popular Pro Touring tires and clears 13" brakes. Not sure on the 14" brakes though.
