1970 Camaro - Burnaby, Canada

I started working on my AC plumbing, I went with EZ clip hose and fittings. I bought everything from Hose Warehouse, they seemed to have the best prices. So far I have everything mostly routed. There's a few areas that I need to sort out, like the bulk head lines under dash and the heater lines that go to the water pump. These areas are very tight.
I'm also second guessing my air filter location now, I couldn't run the air filter on the drivers side because my remote oilfilter in taking up that spot. I'm not sure if the heat from the AC and heater hoses with affect the air intake but I will most likely make some holes in the lower front portion of the fender liner. Sandro |
build
That looks really good. Any oither pics? Subscribing

Nice set up ... where did you source the fittings? ie. the 90's and 45's for the connections? I haven't ordered my VA kit that's on my to-do list, any part # for bulkhead fittings or advice would be appreciated!

A very clean instillation.Keep up the good work.

They were by far the cheapest place that I found. I must of spent a few hours cross referencing all the part numbers from vintage air. If you let me know what you need I can give you all the part numbers, or I can scan my recipet and send it to you. Sandro |
Sandro nice work on your build so far...really like what you've done with the firewall.Any timeline you hope to get it finished by?

I made some small progress on the vintage air unit under the dash. Not exactly how I wanted to route the lines but I think It should work fine. The only part of the plumbing that's not looking too good is the water pump, heater line ports. I'm going to be ordering the Drive Junkies Accessory drive, when I free up some funds. Once I get to that stage I'll see what I can come up with.

We've met before, right? Did you have a white convertible 69 Camaro? I'm not really in any hurry to finish the car. I bought the car in 2006 and had most of the metal work done back then. Then I sold my house In 2010/11 and basically stored it till now. I'm all set up again so I'm excited to be working on it. I'm kind of glad it took this long because I've learned so much being on this site and trolling around on the DSE website. To be hounest my left over parts list is looking pretty scary. I'm going to have to save a bit of money before I can finish it. Seems like all the stuff I want is in the thousands now. Lol |

Made some brackets today to mount the vintage air lines to fender well.

These are some other things I did on the car this winter.

Car's looking great, Sandro. I see a lot of DSE influence in your build. That's a good thing. I got a lot of inspiration from them, too. Keep it up!

Sandro I don't think we've met I'm driving a dark blue 69 SS. I spent my formative years growing up by the PNE before moving to North Burnaby and now I'm settled in Pitt Meadows.I'm currently working on getting my motor back together after a head gasket issue.Next year I'm hoping to add my T-56 at long last.Like you I've learned quite a bit from this site and seeing as I have the day off I'm making my way out to the garage.Excellent work on the 2nd Gen I'm a big fan of those.Really look forward to seeing it in person down the road...keep up the great work!

I'll probably head to the garage too. All the snow we're getting is making it hard for me to go to work. |
Really looking forward to watching this build and I am so jealous you guys have snow. It has yet to snow in Chicago this year !!!!
btw looks fantastic so far !!! |

I've been following your build, great car, I love it! As far as the snow I'm so over it  We're not used to seeing as much as we've had. |
Great work!! The EZ-Clip is by far the best choice for the AC hose setup. Did the same on my Nova.
Do you happen to have more pics of your CAI. As well as the rubber section on the separating panel? Thank you, |

Thanks Sebtarta, Theres a few more pics in the introduction page that I posted. I purchased all the fittings from Spectre Performance. Guy Smith from Spectre helped me with the part numbers. https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=54602 |
Nice progress on this! I'm also friends with Rybar too. Hope to see this thing eventually at a Friday night cruise that Ryan usually organizes during the summer.. what's your timeline for getting it all together?
Cheer, Joe |

I have a few little things to sort out and then it's off to the body shop. Hopefully I'll get it back within a few months and then I can install the drivetrain and send it back for final paint. Look forward to hanging out with you guys! |

Lol. My next thread will be which color and wheels to run. I guess I can count you in for blue paint. :D |

ps You should keep everything in this thread as we don't want to miss anything. |
Sandro I don't know Ryan personally but I've been in touch with him a few times through this site as well as Joe...Ryan's Camaro is a beauty and Joe's Nova is wicked...I'm hoping to have mine back together soon.I'm hoping to get out for one of those Friday night cruises as well

So I've been going back and forth with my remote oil filter and I think I'm finally 80% sure I'm happy with where it is now. I bought some 3/16 aluminum today and mocked up a bracket. I Just need to get it Tig welded and see how sturdy it is. It will mount just above the inner fender and be accessible from under the car.

Very nice

I'm very Impressed with what your doing to your car. The amount of engineering thats gone into your front suspension is incredible. Cant wait to see it all finished! |
69 Camero
I used to run one up front years ago with just rubber hoses
and clamps with no issues... Then when I put my new engine in I mounted one in the same location with An fittings but -14 lines so I could get the flow... problem was sometimes when the engine flexed in torque it would loosen the fittings.. again it had very large lines but make sure the torque of the motor will not twist on the fittings Nice build.. love all the little details Bob |

Might consider safety wire then or securing the hose to the frame before it gets to the filter head. That way, the hose takes the flex and not the fitting at the filter head.
Good location for the filter IMO |

I think I'm going to commit to that location and cut my inner fender. When I start plumbing the system I'll see what options there is for the hoses. Btw looks like you've done a ton of work on your car too, its awesome. I cant wait to be driving mine! These cars are hard to build on a budget so mine might be a while longer. This site has ruined me lol. |
Very impressive work so far, keep the pics coming:trophy-1302:

Put a few hours in the garage this weekend and finished mocking up the remote oil filter. I made a close out panel so it wasn't visible from the front wheel well. Once I get the front end alignment finished I'll install some mounting hardware for the closest panel.
|
Very nice! ^^
|
Sandros,
Do you what airfilter PN? Thanks, Jim |
