Quintin Brothers 1970 Challenger Build
Hi everyone!
We are new to the forum and I have recently started an intro thread you may refer to. We are a 6,000sq ft Performance @ Restoration shop in Williston,VT. We have been open since 1999 and work on anything from mini-vans to land speed cars! We are getting ready to start a build on a clients 1970 Challenger and figured this would be a good start as our first online build thread. Just a quick rundown of the car: 1970 Dodge Challenger- Original 440-Auto-R/T car. Currently the car is being used as a nice driver.. okay paint, some leaks, older restoration, but a overall not bad looking car to have some fun in.. after meeting and discussing many options with the owner, this is what we have decided that will be the fate of this car. Car will be stripped, mounted on the rotisserie, media blasted and then will be getting all the needed body panels replaced... along the way, the car will be upgraded with full Hotchkis suspension, Wilwood disc brakes, BOSS wheels and more! There will not be one bolt on this car left untouched. I know this car isn't a full pro touring build, but we figured it would be a great start to show some of what we do here! Here are some starting pictures of the challenger! http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5emnctp7.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pscbns1yli.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psdohijbmy.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psvwl4tp3v.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pskvmgpfay.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psb63bwzbm.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psiwwbg2hb.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psk2ijfdar.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pssehqmfh8.jpg |

I like those cars and that one looks like a nice foundation.

Nice to see a MOPAR project.
What are the plans for the drivetrain? |

As we've seen so many pro-touring cars with multiple body mods, spoilers, and big wheels, I've started to appreciate stock looking cars as long as they have good stance. That Challenger just looks so good and right with lots of chrome and the vinyl top - I hope the owner keeps it that way. The wheels are just right too - if new bigger wheels are in the cards I hope they are something that retains vintage styling. But his car his choices !

68Cuda,
While I'm not a huge Mopar fan, I really dig your Cuda in your link. There is a fastback mopar I really like too. No clue what it is. LOL. QuintinBrothers, Looks like a real nice canvas. I'll be following for sure. |
Well, We have been very busy and anxious to start this build. here is just a little inspiration! Thanks again to Matt Bernal for the Awesome Rendering!

Should be starting on the tear down this week!

Challenger build
Looks to be an interesting build. Along with fuel injection, could you slip in an overdrive tranny, too? Good luck when you peel off that vinyl top; my '72 Olds Cutlass S roof was trashed! Our son's godfather has a '74 vert Challenger that's pretty trick while appearing stock, very quick! I'll be using it for a comparison. Subscribed

Well, Now that we are all back from SEMA 2017, We can get started on this sweet build!
Here is some disassembly pics. http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...sp9tsqgho.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...stnwuy5ob.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...snjl1fd57.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...syzkdldwx.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...szsmxdpf6.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...suqvznmqu.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...snzqkkbkk.jpeg |

Nothing that we can't handle, but worse than we thought on this car. http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...sfalqupvj.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...sc2il5b80.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...s5auvwhea.jpeg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...sq3fxsfsu.jpeg |

A Plum Crazy Car!
|
Sure is! Tried to convince the owner to go back to that, but green is the choice!
|
Looks like a cool project. I wonder why it was painted? The coolest part of these cars were the colors.

Gosh these cars have nice lines. If I could go back in time I might be a Mopar guy, although they were always a lot more precious than Mustangs obviously.
|
Plum Crazy?? COOL!
Too bad you can't convince the owner to keep it that! |

Agreed. The lines on these cars are great. Love seeing them built since I can't foot the bill, lol. Good luck guys. Looks like a good starting point over all.

The guys have put in a lot of time on this challenger, We want this thing to be perfect when it leaves the body shop!

As we dug deeper into this car, the worse it got.. Not to worry though as AMD metal came to the rescue with new inner fenders, drivers floor pan, quarter patches, trunk floor, trunk lid, extensions, drivers door skin and a rear valance.
http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pspczyw5jh.jpg A lot of hours put in with just small fixes from the abuse over the years. http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psbfy4ub5f.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pstrvjeqs5.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psvwztk7bn.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psev73b78n.jpg |
There was a little too much damage to this door skin than we are comfortable with fixing and being confident that we did it right.

We stress the the most important part of a build is how straight the body is.. Our guys put in tons o hours to make this challenger laser straight!

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psmfv2f2v4.jpg Bunch of new metal in from AMD.. Couldn't do what we do without them. http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pshifkwjzo.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3sxjxbv5.jpg Some small fixes starting to happen.. Can finally see some progress on this beast! http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psi9aiv4yu.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psdzpkigby.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pstj0qswj9.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psqr4pi7g3.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pspo8ehfz0.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...pso7nfskjb.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...psajfn2rke.jpg http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2vt4pcfw.jpg |

There is always a ton of work getting things just right, but honestly that's one of the nicer post sand blast tubs I've seen, especially for a Mopar. Looks good, excited to see it come together.
