1968 Camaro SEMA Build

Here is the starting point of the car!

1968 Camaro

This car has been through multiple owners and all never finished the car, we pretty much were just looking for a good body.. and that's what we got!

Really all we are using of the original car is the quarters, roof, and floors lol.

1968 Camaro SEMA Build

We didn't waste anytime tearing right into the car and getting it mounted on the rotisserie after stripping it of all unused parts.

We just picked up the car from media blasting today and then we will start on the fun stuff! Have some big plans for this one!

Dr. Jekyll 04-10-2017 08:33 PM

Definitely in for updates.

QuintinBrothers 04-25-2017 08:07 AM

After getting the camaro back from media blasting we all sat down and talked about weather the car was going to get done for SEMA in the shape that it is in, we decided against it and have purchased a complete NEW Dynacorn 1968 Camaro body and it should be arriving next week!

The camaro we went to Ohio for will soon be up for sale, its not a bad project, but it will just take to much time out of our schedule to get it done for SEMA 2017.

We have been slowly bringing in some parts though.. Would like to thank all the companies for helping including FESLER, Roadster Shop, Dynacorn and the local Shearer Chevrolet dealership!

Here are the first few boxes of FESLER products... not everything.. just a sneak peak.. hehe

The heart of the beast!

We are so excited to announce that we will be using Procharger's new model, The D-1x mated to our crate LS3 and 4L80E!

I'm curious what the determining factor was to go the Dynacorn route. Nice goodies btw

Hi,
The old body we still have and will be up for sale soon, its still a great project but for our timeline for SEMA, it would take up to much time repairing everything to make it new again, IE: (some past patches and pitting on the underside)

dhutton 04-25-2017 12:40 PM

Will be interesting to see how many hours goes into making the panels fit and flush with good gaps on that Dynacorn body.

Thats something we are very curious about, never dealt with one of these bodies but I have heard good and bad.

214Chevy 04-25-2017 04:27 PM

Not to split hairs here, but I've heard that the Real Deal Steel bodies are far better than the Dynacorn bodies. But, again...that's just hear-say. :underchair:

I don't doubt that.. the real original are always better fit and to start with, but to fix the issues on the body we already had would take to long for us.. a lot of bad patch work and wrong installation of metal that would have to be totally re-done to make it look relatively good at all. .. Could look for another body but we are running out of time quick. :underchair:

Cole, "Real Deal Steel" is another source for complete new bodies like Dynacorn.

I love the rendering!
I'm curious how this turns out.

QuintinBrothers 05-29-2017 02:03 PM

It's been a while since I have updated this thread. We have been working hard! Here is the body as it arrived from Dyancorn. :G-Dub:

Roadster Shop FTW!

After much consideration, we decided to run the Roadster Shop SPEC chassis on our SEMA camaro build. The simplicity yet performance of this chassis can not be beat. I have had nothing but great experiences with Mark @theroadstershop and can't wait to do business in the future!

We opted for the front sway bar and double adjustable AFCO shocks on all four corners. The quality of both the complete frame and headers is impeccable!

Baer Brakes Arrived!

The Baer Brakes have arrived! We opted for the 14" Pro + system for all four corners using black and red calipers with a fire red master cylinder to match the custom Forgeline wheels!

Only one problem, could have been a dynacorn issue, but the floor was way to close the the transmission mount to get to the bolts, we had to raise the floor pan in a few areas to make access room. other than that, the frame fit PERFECT!

QuintinBrothers 06-20-2017 05:50 AM

We talked to Procharger and worked out a great relationship to use their new Intercooled D1-X Procharger on our Texas Speed Cammed LS3 in this sweet SEMA build.
