4th Gen Nova Rendering
Just Wondering If Anyone Had Seen Or Done One In Pt Style?
|
I did a red 76 a long time ago for a guy but I never scanned it in. Who knows, maybe he's a member and will post it.
Guess I'm not much help....sorry. |
I did one for PHR's "9 cars" article but it didn't make the final cut. Never finished it completely though. I believe it was a 76 as well.
|
So what would it take to get it finished? Need some help in the front bumper/grill area. Please let me know what you think.
|
Has anyone ever seen a rendering of a 4th gen? The only thing that comes to mind is one of those glitter iron-on t shirts from the early 80's or late 70's. I wish i was better at art-I'd try. Any help would make my year !

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...r/HPIM1643.jpg http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...r/HPIM1641.jpg i built this for my dad. he had several of them when i was growing up in the early 80's. he painted a '75 SS orange with the black hood and deck stripes that was my personal favorite it belonged to his freind.i like these novas and i would definetly love to do a pt project with my dad based on the model i built. i would do a two tone paint scheme with a real low mean stance. anyway i hope the pics stir up some ideas for you guys. fyi the engine is a 396 out of a camaro kit i had laying around with some aftermarket wheels from a local hobby shop. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r...r/HPIM1645.jpg |
forgot i had started on this.

i forgot i had this drawing.i did this before i started on the model car to get ideas on what i wanted to do. i know it's nothing like what you see on the forum but like i said earlier just for some ideas it's a good start. |
HAHA I am actually doing a 77 now for a customer will probably be done in a couple weeks.Once i send it to him and get the final rendering done i will post it up with his permission...

I had a 77 in high school and loved the way it drove stock, saw a lot of P-T potential. I did a drawing way back of a 79 with the square headlights. It was black with royal blue "torn" scallops and dropped on 17's. It wasn't very good back then but I'll see if I can dig it up and maybe re-draw it.
After owning a 65 Nova, several 73 and 74 Novas, and the 77, I'd say the disco cars (75 +) were by far a better choice for a good handling X body. I'm surprised more folks don't build them. I had a friend that had a 79 beater and junked it. Before he did I had him grab the front clip off for me so I could pick up any 75-78 car and switch to the square headlights only offered in 79. Been collecting dust in the garage for several years, someday I'm gonna build a g-machine disco, someday... |

Here's a shot I dug up of a guy's car that was in a Nova club I used to belong to. Nice ride.

I did one for a friend less than a year ago. It wasn't as involved as Notorious, but I thought it was doable. It basically included tucking the bumpers in way closer, then splitting them, adding a flange to bolt them back together after the bottom gets painted. I also added a tube grill, grafted a hood scoop, hand made spoiler and 67 Camaro tail lights. Hope you can get some ideas.

if this helps i had a 75 light blue metalic, tint, polished alum rims(centerline i think) i blacked out all lights and sunk the bumpers. It made one sharp nova. I have a new drawing for a black and silver one but not sure how to put it on here yet.

don't know if this will help but here is a model I built of a pt nova as well...might give you a good idea..

Cool model. Cheap and easy to find in half way decent shape for a real project. Doesn't it have a 2nd gen Camaro suspension? Lots of cool G parts available...

Prolly best to ask that in the suspension thread on the regular forum. 68-74 Novas have a 1st gen Camaro subframe and everything crosses over. In fact I found a 68 Firebird frame in the wrecking yard for my 73 Nova who had a previous owner off road incident and bent it pretty bad. In 75 with the new Nova body style they went to "front steer" like the 70+ Camaro. Everything in the front suspension was different from 74 and earlier. One can only assume that the smart GM thing to do was simply build the new Nova around the Camaro platform. You'll have to verify all that though.
