Harness pass thru hole size
Hi What size hole did you use to get the main harness for your LS ECU through the fire wall?

2 inch....everything has to go from the cab to engine bay.....won't go the other way...

Thanks guys
I was excited that we're getting close to wiring the motor then pulled the harness out of the box. Whole crap load of wiring. I'm just hoping there is not too much extra length in the main harness. I don't want to start cutting it up to shorten it. Randy, that's the exact one I was looking at this morning. I called and they're closed for the holiday. I tried to find some where else that carried them but nothing showed up. I'm going to come through the hole in the floor for the gas pedal linkage. My buddy has punches for electrical boxes so we'll use that to open it up. |
Not sure if it'd be quicker here, but try this:

I made a hole behind the motor

be cautious as to how close that will place the trunk of harness near the #7 header tube |

Behind engine, but alot of care and attention to measuring, engine placement and rear vac port of intake manifold tape off firewall and lay it all out, then verify and interior conflicts (ie ac/ heater box, ducting, etc, etc) prior to punching any hole in it |

Split it and it will seal fine.

DT69Cam I have the inter cooler reservoir there, only enough room for the AC and heater hoses to go up by it .
The header is not a problem the hole for the pedal is behind the head almost where the head meets the intake so there's plenty a room. |
I have used the grommets from Seals-it with great luck ( use in the offroad world that I deal with also)
http://sealsit.com/product-category/...-grommet-seal/ just a example, they are available in numerous sizes (I.D. & O.D.) |

We laid out the harness and we decided to abandon the pedal location. the harness must be designed to come out on the passenger side for the injector connections to line up. It's going to come out behind the intake as low as we can get it without hitting the wrinkle above the trans tunnel. We would have put it in the top of the tunnel but the trans is too tight for me to drill safely and it's not coming out just for that.

Call Ironworks - get a Mil-Spec bulkhead electrical connector.....
|
These cost way less and you can use a standard crimper instead of the expensive mil spec crimper.
