Luckily this happened on the first run of an Auto-x and not out on public roads.

Great example of why you should be buying quality suspension parts from a suspension company and not a fiberglass/composites company.

GregWeld 08-23-2017 09:54 PM

Yeah that's not right! I hate brake fluid on the inside of my wheels!

clill 08-24-2017 07:16 AM

What brand was it ?

I think it was MAIER RACING -- not to be confused with MIKE MAIERS https://mikemaierinc.com/ which is a separate company....

The failed spindle shown in the OP photo appears to be from MAIER RACING (NOT MIKE MAIERS!) as it looks exactly like the one shown here::

That's correct, Maier Racing.....without Mike.

Spiffav8 08-24-2017 08:47 AM

Well that sucks.

Only if you own them......:action-smiley-027:

Last year I was more concerned with the deflection of the steering arm. Imagine a sticky wide tire working against that caliper mount...well, no need to imagine I guess. :ohsnap:

They didn't respond then and i doubt they'll respond now. Glad I don't have their spindle on my car...

Flash68 08-24-2017 04:32 PM

Mike for suspension....

Charles for fiberglass....

Next!

Yeah, not real big on communication.....or testing, engineering and apparently metal fab.

Party pooper! Don't you have data to share that shows how unfast you were? :poke:

I shared for a few reasons. The number 2 reason is because, its my opinion, that the new suspension products being put out of this shop dont have anything solid to back them up.....other than they work on the display model in the show room.
:knokwood: :flag2:

He's blisteringly fast, just put a beer in his hand and ask him. :captain1:

Thanks for the picture Dan. Hopefully this will keep someone from getting hurt. We have been talking about how dangerous they looked from the first time I saw them.

Nothing quite like a heat affected zone in flat sheet metal under ~7500 ft-lbs.

I didn't even know Charles was still putting out suspension parts...

chetly 08-25-2017 03:04 PM

He is, but obviously his quality control leaves a little to be desired...
