Maybe modify the drivers side fender so that it matches the passengers side as the fender is from a 73 on up style. |
71 was the only year firebirds had the vent in the lower part of the fender
|
Sixx you are correct lol. Looks like someone patched in the vent sometime back in the day. I missed the wider flange on the fender.

Patriot68, that's really nice, going to be a excellent ride! Looking forward to your progress...
If you don't mind i have a few questions. *what is the width of the 9" housing "flange" to "flange" without axles mounted. *is it a speedtech dutchman housing? floater or standard? * what is your rear wheel offset? I am working with Jay W. on a similar setup, but a totally different application. I've been measuring but getting a little baffled on the offset's. I realize they're all different but the information may help if you have time. Thanks! |
I ordered everything from Jay aswell
19x12, 8" backspace Standard 9 inch Speedtech/Dutchman housing Not sure on the flange to flange. ill need to measure. It might be a little while before i get back to you on that. The car is not at my shop right now. Ill message you when i get it. Jay might have the measurement. Tell him it was for Scott at Patriot Automotive in San Antonio. |
Thanks Scott, I just spoke to Jay, i have what i need...
He's working with me on a 68 Torino. |

I just got my rendering from Ben at streetrod designs. Hes a great guy to work with as many of you already know
|
Killer blue color!!
|
Seriously, that's awesome!
|
fenders
do you plan on getting aftermarket front trans am fenders or transforming the originals to what you want.
|
Aftermarket if they can get them to me unharmed I'm waiting on the third set from classic industries. You would think they would be packaged better.

Well after 5 years and 4 shops I finally found some one competent and willing to paint the bird, I cant believe it took me this long to get this car done. So frustrating to have cash in hand and willing to pay whatever it takes to get the job done. I decided that the car had to be red, and im stoked on how it came out.
|
Car looks great!!! It's getting harder and harder to find people or shops who'll paint these old cars. The time required and profit margins just aren't there, as compared to collision repair.
|
Are there any other carbon parts on it aside from the filler panel.
|
Fender vents, mirrors, and the hood, i originally had the nose but there were some issues.
|
Yes for sure Jody. If i was in Houston or Dallas i would probably would have had an easier time finding someone

Anvil? Reason I ask is that I have the nose and hood from them. Your hood seems to fit ok. Did it take a lot to get to? What were the nose issues that couldn't be overcome? Also, what type of hinge system did you come up with? Thank you! |

That's a very nice shade of red. Sorry it took so long, but I am glad to hear you're pleased with the results.
