rehab of my 69 project HillbillyDeluxe Build by Ironworks

1 Attachment(s)
Guys,

Just wanted to share some of my build (rebuild maybe better word). After moving my car from the east coast to the west coast I found myself looking for a place to give my old 69 a little updating. A good friend of mine had had a few amazing cars built by Rodger Lee and his crew at Ironworks, so we came together and came up with a plan to give my car what it needed to bring it to the front. I should have posted more pics as the project progressed, but Rodger has done so much in 3-4 months time got away from me. Can't say enough good things about Ironworks. This has been a very positive/exciting experience as they work on the cars and keep you 100 percent involved. The plan was to
  • Replace Subframe and do full DSE goodies front and rear
  • fix all body issues and smooth firewall
  • install all new wiring and guages
  • update driveline with new T56
  • replace all braking system and wheels
  • repaint and lizard skin overside
  • trick out the engine bay with keeping it nice and neat
  • build full custom stainless exhaust
  • new custom interior

Thanks Justin, It's been a fun process. I'm looking forward to you tearing up the streets of LA in this beast. Projects like this quick transformation are fun. Its clean, simple, and nice, but its not over the top and will be a super fun car you should be able to drive the wheels off of when we are done. I'm super proud of the transformation we have been able accomplish in less then 4 months.

I have spend many years trying to structure my business to get to the point to be able to do just this.

Thanks

Yes I am gonna drive the wheels off it. The plan is to take it on the power tour next year.

Roger is the car still at your shop? Do you have any pictures of how you got the heat exchanger on the passenger side to fit with the RS doors? Did you run tubing down to the bottom of the Radiator support and go under? Any help would be appreciated.

We actually reused the cooler and mount Justin made when he built the car the first time. The intercooler pump under the old battery tray has been the tougher deal to route.

Thanks it’s got a lot of good parts on it and the craftsmanship shows. Doesn’t have any fancy body mods but GM did a good job as is in my opinion. Rodger has done a great job making it ready to pound on and not have any worries about drivability which was a big concern. I like to enjoy my cars not just look at them.

Not yet hopefully it will be running this week!

gofastwclass 12-02-2018 09:10 AM

That will be very cool. I can only imagine how excited you must be for an early holiday present.

You will need to make sure to let some smoke out of the tires from time to time, it helps the blues go away and puts a smile on your face. ...at least it works that way for me. :D

Congrats on a beautiful car! Love that you kept the body true to form and you can never go wrong with a black car with a straight body! Keep the updates coming. I love the Ironworks jack stands, btw...may they would throw those in as a "Christmas/Customer Appreciation" gift, hint, hint!!:poke:
