Awesome project.
How wide are those wheels?! And how was your experience at Holohans? |
I've had them do work for me in the past. It was done in the time agreed upon for within a few dollars of the quoted estimate. Pics and updates were consistently provided along with an explanation of the steps. His shop and Rad Rides are both in Manteno.

This is a super awesome project! Did they get the rails bent from Art Morrison and then buy the front suspension as a kit from somewhere else?

Yes Bob Measured the Rails and drew out exact diagrams of the bends then had art Morrison Make the Rails I had already purchased the IFs from the roadster shop when they were available he did a Fantastic Job it looks amazing. The wheels are 15" wide. Dan Holohan is a Great guy but we all know how Builds go if i said he Over sold and under delivered he would say he overworked and was underpaid we will leave it at that. i will tell you im Extremely impressed and overjoyed with the work being performed at Platinum custom cars they continue to impress like cpd004 stated on time and exactly what they sold you

In these pics We decided that the wheel base was to short for the length of the overhang So Bob extended the wheel base from 117 to 120" and in these pics he sectioned the front fenders for the move forward then brought back the new steel nose cone a tad to even out the proportions.

The stance along with the wheel/tire package are just killer.
|
Cool project. Glad you found a shop that is working well for you.

Wow! Whole lot to like about this project.
Thanks for sharing the build pics and glad it's moving forward for you. |
Moving the wheels forward is really a good idea. I don’t know if it would have been possible, but I wonder if a person could have just shortened the front of the fender the same amount as you moved the wheel opening, effectively making the car shorter? It would have been more work and I don’t know if you would have had room for everything. At any rate the work is stellar.

Urn8 That's exactly what Bob Thrash did the Front was moved from 117 wheel base to 120 then Bob Shortened the nose up 3.5" by using 69 charger fenders and trimming the nose so it fits perfect with no ugly Gasket gap like the original it is pure metal art. Just by using 69 fender instead of the 70 fenders that were used in the production of Daytona's and shortening the steel nose it shaved about 6.5" from the front overhang.Big Difference.

Project Envious is a 1970 Charger with all the Accesories to make it a 1969 Dodge Charger Replica Hundreds of Thousands spent up to this point
This is a Deal but not a Fire sale. It took me several years to collect all the parts and research what was needed to build the Ultimate Pro Touring Car The Metal Fab work to this point is top notch Literally almost Steel panel has been touched on this car. But its Time to Possibly say Goodbye and Let someone else finish it and get all the prestige and acclimation from such a Build This Car would literally grace the Pages of Every Magazine in the free world if it continues on the path that its on. Check out the Hundreds of Build pics from the Shop that performed Quite a Bit of work so far Past Projects at Holohans Hot rod Shop https://holohanshotrods.com/project/1969-dodge-charger/ facebook page https://www.facebook.com/10125032992...61440907243157 Or Look up Holohans Hot rod shop on facebook and in pics Daytona Bob First pic is Rendering of what its supposed to look like when finished Done by the Famous illustrator Eric Brockmeyer the out come was well worth it Up For sale is a Project car not a Complete running car 1969 Dodge Protouring Daytona Replica Renderings are done By Eric Brockmeyer Started with Rust Free 1970 Dodge Charger Daytona Soda Blasted the shell and parts Cut The Frame completely out Welded it to Table Jig and Cut Quarters off and fixed everything inside and rust proofed it as well as some other cool Modifications like fill marker holes and make wing pads for the wing to be recessed then the car was pulled and Taken to Platinum Custom cars and Bob Thrash Master Fabricator where he Custom made Bob Thrash and Art Morrison Chasis with Mopar 8 3/4 rear end new Posi trac center section and four link with coil over rear end wheel tubs have been prepped for new custom Floors and Sheetmetal all the frame has been tig welded and Poly tabs added for new floor boards The frame is Unboltable now so you can take the body off the frame and Powder coat it There has been a ton of work done in 8 months from Platinum along with thousands of dollars spent. https://www.facebook.com/14521170553...37510706307399 The Car comes with almost everything you will need to Build It 1970 Charger body with clear Indiana Title New Daytona aluminum Wing New all steel Nose cone with hours of fabrication per formed the Roadster shop independent front was moved 3" forward that made the wheel base from 117 to 120" in doing so Bob cut out about 3" from the nose and took out that bulky look as well as started on custom front air Dam New Hensley Racing built 400 stroker motor stroked to 500 cubic inches with Edelbrock aluminum heads and Billet Specialties Pulley system with Ac unit and Custom made EFI Expert Six pack and Holley Management system and a new set of TTI Headers otherwise a Complete running motor New Silver sport A41 4l65e Overdrive Transmission stage 3 automatic overdrive Transmission with all accessories and Paddle shift New with all accessories deep sump pan and heavy duty Trans cooler New Roadster Shop Independent front suspension package set up with new 13" Wilwood Disc Brakes New Tilt steering column with remote start and pushbutton start New 13" drilled and slotted wilwood Brakes front and rear with Red powder coated calipers New Wilwood Master cylinder with booster New 2 -20 X 19 new Mickey Thompson Rear Tires New 2 -new 19" Bf goodrich front tires New Billet Specialties Toploader Gun metal gray centers 20x16 rear and 19x10 front New shortened Trunk lid and Correct long Hinges for Daytona New Kenwood Indash Stereo head unit with heads up display and Navigation Factory Dash to Customize Vega Hatch back to make Back window plug for Daytona Has Good Glass and Trim New front windshield and Side Glass all original stainless trim excellent condition Newer style Leather bucket seats 2008 altima New Kindigit design Door Handles New 20 Gal Aeromotive Stealth Fuel Cell with Built in High volume pump and filter also applicable for fuel injection New complete Vintage air kit for Dodge Charger New Lokar Shifter Motor mounts and trans mounts are done and engine and trans has been installed There is still quite a bit of Fab work that needs to be finished as well and Paint and assembly but what a great start by two of the best Fabricators in the business only parts needed to finish is Wiring Harness and Radiator and Rubber gaskets . Damn, Bob. I'm sorry to see this happening. Good luck if you do go through with the sale.
|
There are several shops who are members here on Lat-G who are plenty capable of finishing the car at the top level of work you desire. Nonetheless, I can understand your level of frustration. Seems to me it's come to far to walk away from. Good luck!!
|
Jeezus that sucks... Take a breath man, please. You said it wasn't a "have to" so take a step back for a minute...
