70 2nd Gen Build
4 Attachment(s)
Ive been looking for a clean 2nd get Camaro for a long time and finally found one to start building into my dream car. Its a 1970 1 owner out of GA with 93,000 miles on it. The car had a repaint 15 years ago after the pass quarter was damaged. Other than that the car is bone stock and untouched. Almost made me leery of a complete tear down. I don't plan on anything that hasn't been done 100 times already.
The day I pulled it in the shop. Then 2 days later, then by the end of the week. I have a few more pics ill start adding then continue thru the build process. https://lateral-g.net/forums/attachm...49321148<br />https://lateral-g.net/forums/attachm...1&d=1549321148 https://lateral-g.net/forums/attachm...1&d=1549321315 |

Started some of the metal work. No plans to do anything too drastic. Just want a real nice well done car. Ive got the DSE front subframe, rear quad link and 9'' housing ordered.

Sounds like a fun build. Welcome to the site!

Looks like you found a great car to start with! Nice shop, too! Whereabouts do you hail from?

awesome to see another 2nd gen getting some love. I need to get out and finish the suspension under mine but I've so focused on my old Buick that the Camaro has been ignored. Time is not my friend!!

I used to drive by Taylor to Liberty Hill every other weekend to pick up my daughter for the weekend. I thought I remembered your C10 from the 67-72 chevy truck forum, cool truck. |

I love your garage as much as your Camaro. LOL. Full DSE treatment isn't what most consider " No plans to do anything too drastic." This should be fun.
|
Looks like the start of a great project - look forward to following your progress!

Nice starting point and love what you have planned. I'm voting in favor of putting a vinyl top back on it!...that'd totally make it a standout:thumbsup:
|
Sweet project! I'll enjoy watching this one.
|
Cool looking project. Nice shop also.

I was in Atlanta last week taking a car to Underground Racing and stopped by Fuller Moto's shop. A good friend of mine does interior out of there and he had built me a new seat and a few other bits for my 71 C10. Now I have a bit of a thing for hardware, I have a toolbox dedicated to all kind of little odds and ends I may need when working on a project. But while checking out his place I came across the mother of all bolt bins.

Alright now, you can't just throw UR out there and not mention what car and what's being done to it.
There was a V10 R8 with UR turbos on it at Caffeine and Octane this last weekend. Glad to hear you're making progress on the car. |
You are very lucky to have such a great car to start with, saves so much time from doing metal work. You will enjoy your stop at Detroit Speed,I was there yesterday and they have several projects going on now.Keep the updates coming:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Looking great!
I'm finally to the point that I need to do that same rust repair on my dash, along with the few other spots my car has. |

I have those same brakes, I'm really liking them! Good luck with the rest of the build.

Rendering is finished.

Rendering looks great, a lot of nice parts going into this car as well. Should be a lot of fun.

Forgot to post my steering wheel. The center will be finished the same as my wheels.

Looks like you got one of the first 5 steering wheels that shipped out. Johnathon is crazy talented!
|
That rendering is sweet!! Share the plug on the steering wheel. I want something different from what's already offered myself. Been talking to Shawn at EVOD. Ironically, I've been contemplating getting the exact same G-Code wheels too by HRE. The only thing I'm on the fence about is they only come offered in a rolled lip and I'm more of a flat lip, or reverse lip as it's more standardly called, kind of guy.

Great build! I have those same brakes too on my '71.
Really nice package. I am running them with a manual set-up on stock second gen spindles with traditional type hotchkis springs and the DSE UCA's. |
Looks fantastic!
|
So where are some recent updates? :confused18: This is my fav. thread here.:

Got the car at my metal guy and he's getting the quarter replaced. Thats the only full panel on the car that was needed. He sectioned the front wiper cowl, driver rocker and the deck lid hinge plate. Some window channel sections and that's it. Car was a really clean slate.
