FJ40 Showtime Motorama 2019
Guys ... after building this 3 years ago, I'm back
https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7883/...eff70569_h.jpgIMG_6761 by Steve Heck, on Flickr After dreaming for a couple of years of building two of the coolest FJ40's in Canada in completely different visions, we finally made it to the 2019 Toronto Motorama Car show, the biggest indoor car show in Canada. No we did not win any prizes BUT that's not why I did this. I wanted to bring to Motorama something that had never been done before and likely will never be done again, and the response from those that knew what I had done was simply amazing and thats all that mattered to me. So here you guys go ... after almost 2 1/2 years of work, you guys pick .... which one would you take ?? Audience response was about 50/50, I'll assume here the odds will be in favour of the Grey 73' https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7847/...fc3bc00e_h.jpgIMG_1252 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7834/...97246b42_h.jpgIMG_1239 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4839/...34a50a19_h.jpgIMG_1268 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7803/...c65d95da_h.jpgIMG_1262 by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7804/...46e51a79_h.jpgIMG_1229 by Steve Heck, on Flickr |

Steve, I have no earthly idea about which one I'd choose. They're both so damn cool that it's ridiculous. Don't ask me to choose. The grey one is meaner looking, but the cream colored/off-white wheels on the blue one just does it for me too.
|
Thank you everyone !!!
Sincerely Steve yes the blue one is not totally complete https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7860/...985c720a_h.jpgM83axEoQ by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7884/...e4123f1c_h.jpg10WUNkhw by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7812/...8b589883_h.jpgHdVJ9Pag by Steve Heck, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7885/...2f81ea05_h.jpg_zQRkY0w by Steve Heck, on Flickr |
Steve,
If I had to choose one, I'd pick the blue one, since I'd like the stance. Personally, I would combine the stance of the blue one, with the running gear/mechanical of the grey one. Outstanding jobs regardless. Tu |
I like the hardtop and the wheels (actually whole color scheme) on the blue one but I like the running gear on the grey one.
Swap the bodies and wheels onto the other frames and blue one wins hands down! |
Best in Class
So they called me like a week later and asked me if I was picking up my award for Best in Class 4X4 for the 73' Grey one ... lol, nice of them to tell me when I was actually there

|
Congrats Steve!

LMAO ... thanks, and yes next time buddy !! Also like to thank everyone for the great feedback and comments ! Always appreciated from everyone here Steve |
I really like both of them, but I think the gray one does it for me. Great job as always Steve! Can't wait to see what's next..
|
Steve, I've always liked the blue one....really enjoyed following the build thread. Any chance you'd be willing to share the color code for the blue and the white you used? I've got a '72 C20 Suburban that will eventually get repainted blue with a white top, and I think you found the perfect combo!

Paint colour

https://www.tempo-aerospace.com Now the white top, we went with a Wimbledon white base BUT I wanted it a shade lighter/whiter so my painter added some white I believe ... I can get you that code too Steve |
Steve, thanks very much! If its not too much trouble to get me a contact to ask about the formula for the blue, and the specific code for the white, that would be greatly appreciated. If its going to be a pain, don't swat it, Cavalry blue and Wimbledon white will be a good starting point. I especially see what you mean with regard to the blue....yours looks like it is slightly more royal or even navy while the stock cavalry blue appears more powdery, or Carolina blue....at least in pictures.
Anyway, well done on the color pallet, and on both trucks in general!! |
