I've been fearing this post.
oh my. Heart broken.
I'm so glad I got to spend the time with him I did.

What else to say.

With love brother, Mike

What a great guy who touched so many lives by simply being himself. I got to spend quite a bit of time with him in his shop where he operated like a real hot rod builder and will cherish those memories forever.

mfain 07-13-2019 09:35 AM

So sad. A truly great person. He had the incredible strength to live life to the end. God Speed, Greg.

So was I. Didn't know him personally and never met him. But, I'd send him a pm to call me and that is just what he'd do. Called and offered me good, sound advice. All in the name of being a genuine car guy and willing to lend a hand. Sad day!! But, let's focus and celebrate Greg and the life he lived of being a good man and friend. Glad to see he lived long enough to see his car finish and see it win the race last weekend. GOD truly has a mysterious way of working doesn't he? He knew how much that car meant to Greg and had enough mercy to not call him home until he saw it come to fruition.

Goosesdad 07-13-2019 09:49 AM

RIP sir.

BonzoHansen 07-13-2019 10:08 AM

So sad. I'm glad he got that weekend a little bit ago with all his buddies and that car ran. I don't think I ever met him, but I always enjoyed his postings, he seemed so genuine and full of life.

My condolences to his family and all his friends.

Godspeed sir.

Vegas69 07-13-2019 10:15 AM

This world won't be the same without him, but boy did he create a big wake!

RIP my friend...

I was in fear of this as well and prayed that this day would never come. What a guy, what a blessing, what a pleasure to have known him if only through this forum.

God Speed Greg Weld, I admired you from afar and your 40 Ford pickup build planted a seed in my heart and soul, absolutely love your truck and plan on building one similar as tribute to you and your vision. Thank you for being you Sir, thank you.

A life worth living, mission accomplished...✓

Rest In Peace Gregor! You will be missed but always remembered.

I really hated to hear this sad news. Greg was a helluva guy and will be sorely missed. R.I.P. our friend.

Man, this just sucks.

One hell of a guy, they broke the mold with him. A huge part of this community.

Musclerodz 07-13-2019 11:45 AM

This has been heavy on me since I heard early this morning. I'm glad I got to talk with him on the phone a few weeks ago about cars and life in general. We didn't speak one word about his health as I knew he didn't need nor want to talk about it. He lived life like everyone hear would want to the fullest. He was not one of the richest men I knew because of his money, but because of his friendship and willingness to help out so many others. Very few truly will know his generosity and I am grateful to have personally known Greg, which I would never had known if it hadn't been for this community of people commonly referred to as Lateral-G.

Track Junky 07-13-2019 11:52 AM

A huge positive influence in my world as well as others.

RIP GW

First time I met Greg Weld was in Vegas at a Lateral-g.net gathering. We were making a plate and I wasn’t paying attention(mostly because I was at a higher altitude), then I bumped into him. I didn’t see him because I was a good 14 inches taller than he was. He stood there looking up at me for a brief moment, me at him...

He said “Well, I guess I’m gonna have to whip your ass...”

We both stood there for another second...and we both busted out laughing. We’ve been friends since. Single funniest dude I’ve ever met.

The worlds smaller without this giant of a man in it.

Glad your battle with cancer is done.

Rest east.

What a sad loss. Greg, you will be missed. I was always blown away with how much effort he put into the investing thread, trying to help all of us have a better future. I was happy that I bumped into him at sema a few years ago, he was busy but took a few minutes to talk. RIPGreg.

I never had the opportunity to meet Greg but I did ask him a couple questions in the past and he was always friendly and quick to offer help and guidance. I wish the best for his family.

An absolute legend! Irreplaceable

hifi875 07-13-2019 04:14 PM

What a great guy. I didn’t know him per se but only thru lateral g. He always had great stories and gave some great advice. I really liked his post on money management etc stocks. Guy was really really intelligent. I followed his advice on some stocks even though he didn’t really give advice but some insight. He knew a lot about everything

Just heard the news , sucks . He always seemed to have solid advice, was a big part of the community that is cool cars . Why is it the good ones go too early and some of the people who are stains on humanity still get to live ?
Ten bucks says hes up there telling the big guy how to invest and make his car faster lol
RIP Greg

Fluid Power 07-13-2019 04:14 PM

I was stunned when they announced it at the Good Guys show in Columbus this morning...Tell's you what a guy he was that the staff of GG felt it necessary to let the car/hot rod community know.....

RIP Greg.

youthpastor 07-13-2019 04:38 PM

I haven't been on here for months...but it seemed fitting to pay respects to a great man I met here over a decade ago. Like with many, he helped me early on with my business with a wealth of advice. I was privileged to hang out with him at The Shed.

I am thankful I got to speak with him (via Facebook) quite a bit the past few weeks. Even in his darkest hour he was giving me advice and saying how proud of me he was.

On Monday I asked him about doing a Greg Weld Memorial Cruise. How do you ask a living guy how he would want to be remembered? I was hesitant, but he quickly responded about a beautiful drive up in Canada he had done years ago. I said I would be honored to make that happen.

Not much else to share at this point except to honor his life today. - Chris Holstrom

BBBluey 07-13-2019 05:34 PM

Rest in Peace Mr. Weld.
You were genuine and very giving of your time. Thank you for all the wise advice.

rixtrix1 07-13-2019 05:38 PM

Fortunate to have gotten some solid advice from Greg on several different matters. What a positive influence he had on the world. RIP Greg Weld!

MoparCar 07-13-2019 06:38 PM

A great loss to our community. I met him briefly at a Goodguys show in Colorado a few years ago. He had his newly completed (I believe Brizio) roadster there along with the Red Devil Camaro. Down to earth guy. My young 5 year old daughter wanted to look at the cars closer and instead of being worried about her getting too close to a couple of very high profile cars, he welcomed her right into the cars. Very nice. His investment thread changed lives to those that wanted to learn, it did mine and he answered some questions directly to me. He didn't have to share that knowledge but freely did. Great guy.

He will be missed.

With great sadness and deep condolences, Greg you were an influence to us all. What a kind hearted soul.
Was looking forward to catching you at Laguna Seca again some day.....

Just seeing this, but been awaiting the post. The inevitable part of life is that it must end somewhere, somehow. Having the life sucked out of you from a vicious disease must be the worst, but Greg fought it like a champion. High spirited til the end. Greg loved this community. He posted that many many times on these pages. Greg loved family, as he also posted that here. Always willing to help and lend an ear, or a hand if he was there. You will be missed big guy. Heavy hearts here in Georgia. #88wins!

JKnight 07-13-2019 11:26 PM

I only got to meet and talk in person with Greg once, SEMA 2017. For all the folks that never did meet him in person, know this, he was the exact same guy in person we’ve all grown to “know” virtually through the forum (and even better I’m sure). He’ll be missed by us all.

Greg fostered a great sense of community here and throughout our hobby. I can’t help but think the best way to honor his memory will be for each of us to do the same in our own lives and interactions with each other. #WWGWD?

Build-It-Break-it 07-14-2019 12:47 AM

I couldn't help but tear up when I just saw this. I reached out to Greg in desperation to help my mother who was dying of cancer and within minutes Greg emails me back with all the information to try and help her. She passed away shortly after but I'll never forget him for taking the time to help me.

Even tho I never met him personally he'll always be in my thoughts when times get tough. He was a fighter, well respected and will be missed by all.

Race in peace Mr. Weld..............

69hugger 07-14-2019 05:57 AM

What terrible news.
Greg was simply one of the most giving people I've ever met. And one of the most open, especially considering this is the internet.
Greg was larger than life.
We all thought his fight using THC/CBD would work because, well, he was G.W. Not only would he figure it out, but would share with us how we could too. Of course it would work. It did I guess, because it gave him a few extra precious years and a better quality of life. He was comfortable in his choice, and that's what matters most.
I am so sorry for his family. I had the pleasure of meeting Greg & Adrienne at Barrett-Jackson this past January, she is such a sweetheart. I can only imagine their grief.
RIP, our friend. Here's to a life well lived!

Sadly,

Tinker 07-14-2019 06:59 AM

I am at a loss for words to explain how it feels like the world is a different place with the loss of a life of someone you never met. That was Greg's impact on this community and anywhere else he touched. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his friends that had the pleasure to actually spend precious time with him. Must be a huge hole in your lives. May that hole soon be filled with fond memories of Greg. For the first time Greg is looking down at us now. Let's all make him proud and let a small piece of a great man live on in each one of us.

God speed Greg, you will be greatly missed.
