Corvette IRS in a 1st Gen??
A guy was telling me last night that one of the Corvette IRS complete assembly fits perfectly in to a 1st gen as an almost bolt in installation. Anyone know anything about this? He thought it was the C5 Vette

Lol, not even close to a bolt in deal with a C5. I could see a C4 being more a bolt in deal, but still I'd think would require some cutting.
I'm putting a C5 in my '69 Camaro and had to do a wide body to clear the wheels. https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52425 |

There's a first gen that's half done for sale right now for a bargain! Go check the classifieds. -Nick |
Remember the rear suspension on the Vette has the strange leaf thing:

you might want to look into these mounts:

I gave what was left of it to a guy who said he was going to put it under an 80’s Skylark.

It all fits just right, except for the parts that don't, which is all of them. That said, there is nothing wrong with the monoleafs. They (along with some decent shocks) are better than most of the coilovers on the market. The neat thing about the Corvette's designers (at least for the past four generations) is the fact that they had/have a really good understanding of unsprung weight and the desire to avoid wheel hop (and apply beastly grip).
You just need a welder, an angle grinder, and some imagination. |
