Convertible 69 Camaro Project...(no name)

4 Attachment(s)
Guys, I just wanted to introduce my convertible 69 to you all as I'm about to get started on it. I got this car a little over two years ago in January of 2018. Hopefully, everything goes well as planned with all of this COVID-19 craziness going on and affecting us all. This won't be a super build. It'll be just a plain, everyday run of the mill build. My project is so plain, that is doesn't have a name or any of that. This Camaro, as with all of my cars will be just a daily driver...no tracking, auto crossing or flodging of the car. Although, nothing's wrong with that, I'm just not that talented or skilled. The car is an original straight 6 with a factory 3 speed on the floor. Some plans for the car are a LS7 427 with a DART block, T56 Magnum, HRE or Forgeline wheels, Baer brakes, Vintage Air and Kindigit's new paint line called Modern Classikk. The color will be Blue Suede Blue. One last thing I'd like to say is my car is a "He." Not a she, cuz HE has balls. :lmao::lmao:

Bout’ time Marcus. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time now. I giggled at your “everyday run of the mill build” comment. That’s funny. While it might not achieve Stielow status, don’t cut your stuff short here. Lots of high end parts on this build bumper to bumper, and an engine that will rival anybody’s. This will be fun.

Scott, this old thing? Meh, we'll see how it turns out. :whenitsdone:

Looking forward to your progress!

Sounds like a solid plan to me, Marcus. Best of lust on the build

Yes they are ScotI. This was the original paint it still sported. The car still has the original motor and trans in it. I received the original title, Protect-O plate and a photo of the day three generations of women...a grandmother, daughter and granddaughter, drove it home the day they bought it.

Very nice. Looks like it was well taken care of. Local car? I'd have a hard time changing the color....

Sorry, but my paint has already been purchased. I don't like red. Interior is definitely not gonna be red. An exterior white is not bad and I contemplated keeping it white, but not going with that either. Here's a pic of the original photo I have of the ladies and the car straight from the dealership.

I understand. I have a hard time 'deciding' on color schemes. Having the factory make the decision lets me off the hook Lol.

Years ago, I did start to paint my 67 SWB truck back to the OE Lt. Green. Once the cab interior & modified rear tubs got some color I stopped right there. I loved the patina OE Lt. Green it was.... I did not like it 'new'. So, it's going to be white (keeping it simple).

CamaroAJ 04-12-2020 07:13 PM

I kinda feel if you don’t name the car Covid you’re letting all of us down lol

My 68 swb C10 factory color is light green too.

Nice parts gathering! I like the whipple, I'll be looking for one when I'm done with my assembly.

Also acceptable would be Rona, and CV-19. I feel all of them would make a great license plate as well lol.

Guys, help me figure out my wheel choice. I'll be getting ready to order wheels soon...what do y'all think?

dhutton 04-14-2020 04:16 PM

Wheels are a very personal choice but both of those styles seem to be a little played out imho, especially the Forgeline. If you are going with blacked out moldings etc then I think you should carry the theme into the wheels. Black or dark grey centers and polished lips. Try to carry a theme through the whole build. Maybe get a rendering?

I always liked the wheels on Hellfire, a little more up to date imho.

Just my opinion, it’s your car...

Don

I agree Don. Everyone does have that Forgeline wheel. HRE just came out with this wheel at SEMA. So...as of now, too many people don't have it. You must've read my mind because I want matte charcoal centers with gloss black lips. Yes, molding on the car will be blacked out. The wheels on Hellfire are sick and I like them. But, I like a wheel with a lip and some depth. I think those wheels are a monoblock (one-piece) wheel.

dhutton 04-14-2020 05:41 PM

I am not sold on an all black wheel on a dark blue car. I would get a rendering before dropping that much coin on wheels. Ben’s renderings are a reasonable price.

I am the same. There are rare exceptions, but to me overly dark wheels loose the detail you pay for.

I love Forgeline.. but those HRE's are hot!

Black wheels on dark blue you say?

dmc69 04-15-2020 07:56 AM

HRE's

dhutton 04-15-2020 08:33 AM

Ok I retract my black wheels on a blue car comment. In fact I deny saying it...

I like that a lot Don. That paint color is really close to what I'm aiming for.

These are the one's that are on the Ring Brothers Valkyrja Camaro they did for SEMA. I instantly fell in love with them when I saw them.

Yeah, I think my mind is made up. I've already gotten a few quotes to my liking.

Been there, done that. I miss this car, it was a lot of fun and I'd like to have another one.

Engine all buttoned up. Whipple supercharger mounted and Wegner accessories drive installed. Centerforce DYAD clutch to boot.

Picked up the engine from the shop and had them drop it on the chassis for ease of transport and storage. It's gonna be fun trying to figure out how to accommodate for the extra 1.5" over a stock 2" cowl. Don't want 4" racer cowl look. I've always disliked that look. It's too tall. So, I have no earthly idea what I'm gonna do.

Ultra-Carbon has a new hood out called a 4" Fat Hood. The angle of the 4" is a bit wider and the sides slope down at an angle to take away some of that ugliness of the older 4" style cowl from the 80's. It doesn't look as tall in my opinion. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't have guessed its a 4 inch hood just by looking at it. You may have a winner there.

two-piece 04-29-2020 07:28 AM

As far as cowl hoods go that one looks good.

Che70velle 04-29-2020 10:40 PM

I’d run that hood Marcus, for sure. The UC stuff is nice and fits good as well. Or...you put a body lift on it and run a flat hood...🤣

Scott, you mean...like this? :headspin::headspin: Shoooood, I'd be SEMA ready then.

WILWAXU 04-30-2020 05:32 AM

Maybe I missed it, but who's chassis are you using?
