One-Owner 1970 Dodge Challenger SE - Would You Cut it Up
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
So the question of the day is would you buy it and cut it up ? Me - I would Hemi-Swap it and do a modern bolt on suspension, maybe a dakota digital dash and clean up the interior a little. Bring a Trailer Listing https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...challenger-30/ |
Perfect Candidate!
I think this is perfect candidate for a Pro-Touring treatment! Not an RT and came with a 318... so a modern 392 Scat Pack with bolt-on suspension upgrades, big brakes and 18" rallye wheels.
Lose the fog lights but leave the exterior green, repair rust where needed but blend into the original paint. Repop or repair trim as needed and it needs a new black vinyl top but I'd delete the SE badges AND PUT A BLACK INTERIOR IN IT! Unbolt the front fenders and remove the VIN tag/fill holes and the make everything in the engine compartment and the firewall like new with the new powerplant. And I might consider replacing the radiator overflow jug... A Scat Pack 6.4L's 485hp/475lbft would move this thing down the road nicely with a matching TREMEC 6-speed! |

Looks like we are on the same page.
I am kinda hoping "Skip" jumps on this one and sends it to Mike Copeland at Arrington Performance. It's exactly what he needs in his life right now. mj Quote:

I'd make a sleeper out of it

Nice looking example Marty.

Simple answer....YES!
|
Looks like it sold for a very nice price just wish I was in the market as I regret selling mine to the Roadster shop.

It’s a damn good thing that wasn’t a 70 Chevelle or I’d be having discussions with the wife. Great starting point for a daily resto-mod.

Help, I have Issue's

It just got worse for me as I always said that if one of these showed up I would buy it. Now I just have to figure out where to put it and how to tell my wife.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...olet-camaro-4/ ... help me please |
There was just that 14Kmile convertible that bid to 15.5K, but didn't sell. I was some tempted...

There's been a number of 3rd gens on BAT recently. I wouldn't get a low mileage one unless I specifically wanted a car to leave covered in a garage. Or, was planning to spend a chunk of change on modifying it.
|
i would leave the exterior alone and cut up the rest

I'd modify the hell out of the 88 GTA that's now on BaT. Gorgeous car with low miles but not pristine enough to leave alone in my opinion.

I saw that and I thought the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This reminds me of when I bought my 69 Camaro which was an all original 307 car in very nice shape. Some guy called me and begged me not to modify it and laid the guilt trip on me. :BlahBlah: I cut that SOB up!
|
I'd go after that blue Z that's on BaT now, Marty. I'm partial to blue though.

On the topic of the Dodge this thread was founded on, I would not be feeling FOMO about that thing. I bought a car from the Poconos (PA) about 12 years ago. The car itself was only two or three years old, and pretty much all of the bolts underneath were welded together with rust. One could only imagine the case with a car from the '70s; somebody did mention "cutting up," which would undoubtedly be a requirement (for $18 grand). The Northeast is not where you find a "great" older car to build, unless it has been carefully curated in a car-sized mayonnaise jar on Funk & Wagnall's doorstep.

LOL - I actually spit my food out when I read this. Thank you for making me laugh |
love the Johnny Carson show Ed McMahon tie in!
I went to college with Doc Severinsen's kid. He flunked out in less than a year - probably had to do that he was Stoned 24/7. He would come back from breaks with Shoebox's filled with premium weed! |
