I Want Feedback
2 Attachment(s)
It has been about 3 months since I first posted my project introduction. This is the original thread:
https://lateral-g.net/forums/show...4&page=1&pp=10 Since that time I have accumulated most of the components for the build and the car is currently in the fabrication shop. I will be posting build pictures soon. I have also had Kris Horton working on the external design. We are getting close to completing this. I want feedback on the design. In particular, I have to decide on whether to black out the chrome or not. I have included 2 renderings, one with chrome and one without. I am also looking for feedback on the stripes. One thing I would point out is that I purchased the car with really nice orange paint and I intend to keep that. |
Blacking out the chrome molding on the front/rear glass just looks strange to me, unless you're flush mounting the glass and not using the original chrome molding at all.
|
I like the original chrome also, but with painted bumpers (hence the reason I did my car like that)
|
I prefer the original chrome as well, and I like the front bumper the same color as the car with an RS grill. I'm making the same decisions on my 69 RS project currently, trying to decide to keep or delete the quarter grills and RS back-up lights right now. Your car looks great!

in the pics I like the black but not sure abou real life.
|
I think the stripe looks terrible. It doesn't flow well, and the angles on it make it seem out of place.

I'm still not happy with the stripe, personally. Initially Tracy and I had a 2-tone scheme worked out for his car that looked really good, but he decided to go with something simpler (a modified hockey stick.) I did something similar for Brian (baz) and wanted to avoid copying it, but I'm still working on getting it to fit the car better though.

IMHO, if you are going to go with a body-color front bumper, for God's sake, do it with an Endura bumper and not a painted steel bumper. When I see those I just want to gag. Again, just my $.02...

Tracy already knows my feelings, black trim, black grill, tinted glass, black stripe, body color bumper. I like the stripe, it just needs dailed in
|
Black trim, endura, loose the chrome wheel lips, modify stripe.

Are the wheels black or charcoal?
|
I'm not a fan of the wheel trim, 1/4 gills, rocker molding or drip rail molding myself. I'd also go for a factory hockey stripe.
And am I the only one who thinks a painted front bumper and chromes rear doesn't look right? My buddy has a similar paint scheme on his '69: http://groups.msn.com/camarofolder/shoebox.msnw |
I like the wheels.
|
I like the wheels, the lip color seems to clash with the center color to me for some reason. Cool looking car.

Here is a picture of a the same type wheel with the same scheme that we are planning. The wheels are Forgeline SP3Ps and this picture is Kris Horton's awesome Mustang.
|
The wheels look better in real life than the rendering shows.
|
Wheels look good, you definately need a polished lip. Without that you can't tell where the rim stops and the tire starts, I personally think it needs to be a defined line. I also like the painted front bumper(endura) but would also paint the rear. The moldings look ok either way. I think it would be a little more unique to paint them, but again, either way your safe. I'm doing some kind of a hockey stick stripe on mine also, so I'm definately a fan of that. Looks great, keep it up.

The pic of the fisrt rendering looks right to me. A little chrome sets off the car.
It looks just right! If you black things out, where do you stop? If you wanted a stealth look paint it black. Orange needs a little chrome to make a contrast. R.P. |
Stock chrome, endura bumper, how about a stock looking ghost hockey stripe?
|
Thanks to everyone that gave feedback. This will definitely help me in my decision making process. There were a number of good ideas tossed out. I can't wait to post the final rendering and progress pictures.
