Finally a 67 Camaro !!!

Way back in the day I watched the movie Better Off Dead and fell in love with the 67. Eventuality I will find my first car which was a 67 but for now I will live vicariously through this build.

Silly question: Does anyone know what SA uses as their final step for metal finishing? It doesn’t hardly even look like there are DA marks in the steel! But maybe that’s just the pictures? Such CLEAN work! Thanks for sharing Charlie!

clill 06-13-2021 08:16 AM

Photo shop.

I thought it was Vaseline. Isn’t that what the old timers used when shooting porn? Did I go to far? LOL

Looks like a finish you would get with an orbital sander

Yes. Had a 9" but getting a quiet 9" seems to be impossible. Trying something different.

That's the same thing I hear about the 12 bolts now, since all the gears aren't made with enough machining they all wine or make a buzzing noise at different speeds,

and now the 9" are the same,

When someone going to start machining the gears back the old way,

I thought GearFX gears were made to be quiet. At least that is the claim.

I sure hope so Don. I have Gear FX and I paid extra for the polishing option called REM isotropic surface finishing to aid in keeping them quiet. We shall soon see...

The new 9" third member I got from GearFX is whisper quiet. Super impressed with it. 3.70 REM finished R&P dyno'd at GearFX before shipped.

I got the gearfx full rear end from detroit speed. bought the debur and break in service. came in and filled it with fluid and of course it leaks. nice. brand new parts leaking right off first fill up no fun. Called them and they sent me the seal, of course the wrong one(pinion instead of carrier itself)
